Quiet Exhaust

Hey Guys,

I am looking for suggestions regarding a quiet exhaust system (a little louder than stock obviously).

Currently I am running fabspeed headers, DKF section 1, and for track RPI mufflers. In a couple weeks the Evolve CSL airbox should be in, and frankly given the fact that my ears are already bleeding from my existing setup, a nice quieter option for my mufflers would be nice... for tooling around town that is.

For the track, all bets are off.
Hopefully my dream of exhaust flames will be realized

Thanks !

Other than stock, the most quiet cans are Remus. After that, Stromung, Eisenmann Sport and Supersprint Sport are a bit louder, but still somewhat tamed. Eisenmann & Supersprint Race would be on the loud end of the spectrum, but would be a bit quieter than your RPI.

I have Stromung and very happy with it. Reasonably priced also.

Somewhere on here this is a test of exhausts. I deleted the link after I picked one.

Hmmm...I really need to listen to your car, then My Remus is like stock when the engine is cold, but it becomes a tad bit louder after the car has warmed up.

So go here::

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ht=exhaustfest

to find out and listen to a ton of options. You are describing exactly what I wanted, and purchased- Eisenmann Sport (not Race). It is exactly what I wanted. Not much louder than stock (if at all), but a little more throaty and a little burble. It's great! I have the DKF section 1 and a Rogue X-pipe.

I'm running the Airbox and headers with Stromung cans. I like it. I drive it to work everyday. Sounds good and it's not over the top. I don't feel embarrassed to drive it around execs.

It's fairly reserved until you get hard on the gas. It does sound a little aggressive in our underground parking garage where everything is amplified and echoes (i.e. it sounds awesome).

+1, it's nothing close to stock! I've had the Eisenmann Sport on two Z4Ms.

Plus, if there's a desire to get a bit more, sans drone, an Xpipe (Rogue), or a de-resonated stock Xpipe (muffler shop) will add more pops, burbles, and volume.

The Remus Sport is quieter choice than the Eisenmann Sport. I've owned this system as well, and there is no drone, and good volume with heavy throttle. It's a good choice with headers or other upstream mods,. Plus, you might avoid future hearing aide use.

Brent and Ian, thanks for pulling the exhaust data over and posting.

How about the Arqray - Race Exhaust? I would get that in titanium if money was not an issue.

You're welcome. I wish I'd been able to put more time into wrapping up the video from the last 'Fest, but I, and other key folks, have been hammered with work and family obligations. If only there were more hours in the day....

My setup is similar to Devious', with a Euro section 1. Not sure if a garage video is going to show you what it sounds like. It is difficult to make a video on our roads, because there is simply too much traffic. However, this video of an S54 M3 CSL will give you a pretty good idea of what this setup actually sounds like if you don't need to worry about traffic. This is recorded close to WOT. You can actually regulate the sound from your right pedal. At slower speeds and revs, it is not much different than stock, which is cool because most people don't want that roar all the time.

Intgr8r is right, we should be quiet. Admittedly, this type of behavior can lead to the poorhouse.

Woah!

Thanks for all your replies!

Sounds like the eisenmann or stromung seem like good options.
This forum/m coupe thing is truly worse than crack... at least there are support groups and sympathy for that!

Super sprint power loops will be perfect, but expensive.
