Can any tell the condition of this undercarriage?
I'm deciding if i should go fly and take a look at this Z4M. I had the dealer send me pics of the undercarriage. As far as i know the car has lived in Texas it's whole life, has 55k miles on it. The car looks reasonably cared after other wise. Seeing that i have no real idea on what the undercarriage should look like after living in those conditions with that many miles I figured i ask the experts on this forum. Any help would be appreciated?

I see dampness under the rear diff. Could be pinion seal or cover leakage. Could also be a more worrisome leak from the front of the car as I also see dampness on the reinforcement plate.
The camber arms seem rusty. My point of reference for this is my car came from Fla with 60k on it and those parts were still factory fresh.

Well the dealer is adamant that that the diff isnt leaking. He sent me this pic. To me when I compare it to other photos I've seen of the differential this one looks like it could be dark and coated in oil. Love to hear everyone else's take on it. If the diff isn't leaking it could be coming from somewhere else as others have commented

Find a local BMW independent and ask them to do a pre-purchase inspection on the car for you.
No f**king way I'd ever buy a car sight unseen, or without someone looking it over for me. And under no circumstances would I ever trust a dealership trying to sell the car to be honest. Trying to "guess" the condition of a car via a bunch of pictures over the web isn't the best way to go, IMO. Heck I can send you a bunch of pictures of my MZ4 Coupe and claim it's never been tracked...And I can make the pictures as convincing as it gets. But spend 5 minutes on Zpost's track forum and you'll probably find out that in the last 5 years my MZ4 Coupe has probably spent more time and miles on track than on street.

All good tips. Yeah my plan was always to go see it in person but I didn't want to waste my time flying down to see a car with red flags already. Anyhow I decided to pass on it. I'm sure the right one will come along soon. Thanks guys for all your comments!

Speaking from experience of buying this car without taking all of the precautions, get a carfax on the car. I found out the hard way and I'm fixing all the collision damage that was not repaired properly. Leaks can be fixed without too much of a hassle but structural damage is a whole other ball game.
