Gen 1 Rear LED Tail Lights

Thought I'd post a quick information post for those that may search in the future. I went through 3 different type of LED light bulbs in my 2003 Z4. They were all Canbus happy.

Of 3 only one worked, but flickered as a parking light, and the brightness was less (that's right; less) than the stock bulbs.

Only true options is to update the rear bumper to the refreshed rear tail light.

Cheers.

Yea, but I'd have to get a complete new bumper for that. Maybe in the long run.

I'm also looking at custom LED boards as well.

Rebuilt taillight essentially.

Have you given the Weisslicht products a go? I've had a lot of success with them and I've really enjoyed my pair. Although I wish I went red.

Tried through Bimmian. They were skeptical about the right bulb for the job.

They were worried from the start that it would flicker.

I've run them for a long time and I haven't had any flickering, only at start up during bulb check because the check signal is enough voltage to light up the whole bulb.

They've been solid. I can slap a go pro on the back of my car aimed at them to show you how they behave at night on the road sometime if you're interested.

Is your bulb type different than the Gen 1 or the same.

I'm running 1156 BA15S
