ATTENTION: Roadster Owners - Question for you guys.

Now that I have your attention!

I'm starting to notice a rub mark in the inside of the top on my '05 Z4. I suspect the lock mechanism is causing this rub/discoloration. (I bet the '06+ guys don't have this problem).

I'm afraid it'll eventually wear down the thin fabric and put a tear in it. Any of you guys getting or have a solution?

Thanks!

Have you tried scrubbing gently with some mild soap? It looks like a grease or dirt mark in the fabric to me.

I've got it on my 06 too. It rubs n the latch to secure it when the top is down. It's not just dirt. If it gets bad I'll put a patch over it.

I was under the impression the '06+ models done away with the lock latch mechanism. Yeah, it's definitely more than dirt - I see some minor fabric wear when I look closely. I also thought about the patch idea if it gets bad - what kind of patch would you use? (like the ones my mom use to iron on my jeans? lol)

I checked and mine is similar. It has the scratch marks in the middle. The outside marks aren't on mine though. Mine is an 03.

I never noticed it until you posted. I will keep an eye on the marks. I bet a patch would do well to make that area stronger so it doesn't rip eventually. I have no sewing ability so let me know what you find out as an option.
