Kristin’s 2006 E86 BMW M Coupe

JDMChicago.com recently did a nice write up and took photos to showcase the recent Z4M that we had put together.

Wanted to share her beautiful setup!

Enjoy!

Kristin’s 2006 E86 BMW M Coupe

When the JDMC forums started back in 2009, almost immediately we added a European section for the J-Spec Euro cars we have grown to love . Some people may be against this movement, but we have embraced it. So what exactly is the this J-Euro ”look?” It’s not easy to define, but easily recognizable when you see it- essentially, modifying a European car with a Japanese flair and spirit. It’s exciting to see that wheel companies such as Work, Volk, and others now offer sizes and bolt patterns to accommodate this demand.

Originally considering a e92 M3 to replace her Hyundai Genesis Coupe, on a whim Kristin decided to give the Z4m and a Z4 M Coupe a shot.
Now the funny thing is that Kristin is not really a “convertible person,” but this all changed once she test drove the Z4m Vert. “I’m only 5’1″,and the inside of the Z4 is so small and everything is accessible to me without having to lean across the car.” At the same dealership, an M Coupe was also available which had a slight edge in the looks department. That very day this e86 was hers.

Kristin’s car is still relatively in it’s infancy stage, but her parts are finally coming together after the usual delays from Japan. First thing we would like to point out is a killer set of Work VSXX wheels in 18×9.5 and 18×10.5, on a set of Yokohama S-Drives. I like the fact she chose some optional centercaps from Work (instead of the standard VSXX caps) that flow well with the wheel finish.

IND Distribution, ”a premier purveyor of BMW cool” undertook Kristin’s project with open arms. KW suspension and minor bodywork by IND gives the e86 an aggressive stance. Other minor details such as the painted front grill and reflectors was a nice touch on this build.

Finishing up the car is a Arkym Aerosport aero wing, which goes nicely with the Arkym front lip spoiler. Kristin’s off to a great start and we’re excited to see this build as it progresses. Don’t forget to click on each photo for a higher resolution shot.

I'm pretty sure it's a misprint, they look like 19s. I think the rear tires look a little silly stretched like that, almost like big motorcycle tires. I'm also still not sure if I like the Arkym kit.

I like it! It's not what I would do, but then again, it's not my car! The result is very clean, cohesive, and it all works for an overall effect. It's not meant to be a track car or even a track look, and it does the Jspec thing very well. Paint looks amazing too (wish my black looked like that).

Ditching the stock cans would really complete the look IMO.

I would not have otherwise liked that wing, but the stance, the color and the whole package makes it work. Well done!

Working on the exhaust with the help of IND

I'm pleased with how it's coming together... I've only had the car since october so it's been a lot of heavy purchases so far.. and its a work in progress for sure.

I knew going into this I'd get mixed opinions from the bmw crowd on the stretched tires and the jspec look but its what I love and it's what I'm going with

what exhaust are you looking at?

if you love the look then that's all that matters. the stretch and poke is all over the place now.

see this thread for some really crazy fitment.
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=228891

i wouldn't go as far as calling the look you have there euro j-spec.there's only reall one company that makes both a CF front lip and diffuser for our cars. they may be a japanese company but the CF facia and the wheels/fitment alone don't suggest j-spec... to me at least.

i have the japanese made arqray mufflers on my car and am eyeing the advan rs-d's for the track so i'm halfway to calling my car euro j-spec lol.

anyways, for a fellow BSM owner.

i did the reflector deletes too. makes it look sooo much cleaner.

Beautiful build

Working with IND has got to be awesome. Everything they do kills IMO.
I love the jspec look and this is the best looking M coupe I have seen in that category. Nice work, looking forward to following the build.

Also the best photos I have seen of that front lip installed. It really looks good on black.

Great looking car... as Finnegan says' not what I would do but hats off... it looks amazing. I track my car profusely so this wouldn't work for me.

Now all I wish is that you don't go overboard... it's great as it is.

Congratulations!

As others have said, it's not exactly what I want to do with my Z4MC, but there's no denying the car look great and I admire you (and anyone else) for developing a clear vision of what they want their car to look like and then following through to make that vision a reality.

I can't even tell you how great IND has been.

They're not just working on this car. My boyfriend has an e90 M3 also so it's been a lot of unexpected stuff thats come up, back & forth on parts, and correspondence with different vendors for us.

I couldn't be happier with how the car is coming together. A few days before I picked it up I went in there, checked it out, and left them with a whole list of nitpicky little details I wanted done and they did it all!!

I just paid all of my bills so I think I have enough left to get the eisenmann exhaust I want ordered this week.
