It's a personal choice, do you want drop tops, or closed top? Track days or "spirited weekends only"?? Try them both for yourself.

+1

If you want to do track days, autocross, motorsports, don't like the look of a rag top, M coupe. If you want cruise with the top down, M roadster.

Both great cars, just depends on your own preferences. Personally, I couldn't imagine NOT driving a ragtop...but I've been in convertibles for 30 years.

that's a way easier choice over a z4mc or z4mr. the n54 motor will never feel as good as an s54, though it may be faster. Nor will the e89 chassis hold a candle to an e85/86M chassis on the track, but the e89 will always ride better. Where's you priorities?

I personally don't mind an e89 and would buy one for my wife so I can steel it when by back hurts from my z4mr

I've got a Z4 roadster and I love it. I've never had a convertible before so this is quite a thrill.

But you know something? When I look at the Z4 coupe, especially a silver one, I can't help but think of the classic Aston Martin DB5. Its certainly a classic look for a great sports car. If you get one and the dealer has an old guy named Q who wants to explain the features of the car, do pay attention.

i know it's a personal thing but it's a very easy choice for me.
the very second i saw a pic of the coupe, i knew the BMW designers were thinking the coupe all along.. just turns to car into a future classic

You should get a coupe, if you like hardtops. If you like to put the top down, you should get a roadster. Hope you find that extremely helpful.

The beautiful thing is that there are both for catering to all.

Either one would be my choice over an E89 any day.

I had both (well, a non M Roadster) but when i had a M Roadster loaned to me by the local BMW dealer, it gave me shivers to hear the engine sing. In a coupe it's just more muted..but handling wise, coupe beats it hands down.

Expect creaking in the roadster later!

both are a amazing.

If you are single, get the roadster. (chicks dig rag tops )

If you plan on tracking and prefer a better looking M, get the coupe.

I had both, my roadster was a dream with the top down but abit shakey on uneven road surfaces and looks just not right doing a track day with a roadster, bought the coupe and what a difference the car feels more solid less body roll. BUT still a tuff choice i still like both

I have never like Roadsters.

The Coupé's classic bold body styling lines resembles a close throw back to muscle cars styling lines from the late 60's and early 70's when viewed from certain angles.

Germany's answer to the Corvette is alive and going strong. The convertible Z4-M of the same model is endowed with nowhere near the same sex appeal or laden with the volume of testosterone drenched muscular stature as the coupé version.

Had an M roady the 1st go around.
I have an M Coupe now.

I was 50/50 the first time as well, went with the roady because I had always wanted one.
Great for open road touring, but I less in love when driving in the city.
I felt a little vulnerable at times.
Also, ended up with top up half of the time & was not a fan of top up at all.
Visibility is FAR better in the coupe.

IMO the roady looks great top down, not so much top up.
The coupe is just flat out sexy as hell & looks like a high performance piece.

I also do a bit of tracking, pretty hard to do that these days in a roady.

if this was Z4MC vs e89 z4, i'd say if you're even contemplating 'vert, you'd probably be happiest with the e89. however personally, i don't think there's any compensating for a nice stiff chassis, the Coupe is a Performance car, the roadster/vert is a fun.
