Walk or Run from MR

Isn't the consensus to avoid a MR purchase when it did not have it's 1200 service? This one had the first oil change at 9 months and 8892 miles. Even though it is low miles and still under warranty my inclination is to run from this one..

Does lack of the 1,200 service guarantee that the car will break down/be a lemon/have a bad engine?

No.

Does it show that the previous owner doesn't care enough about the car after paying $60,000 for it to take it in for a free, quick check-up?

Yes.

Thanks guys for the feedback. This one is an '08, 24K miles, and under warranty/service until Feb 13. So, still worth considering?

The miles are low, and you've still got over a year of warranty to figure out if there are any major issues that need to be resolved. If there are no accidents and everything else is to your liking then I say go for it.

BTW, find out if Inspection I had just been done, otherwise it will probably need to be done very soon (under warranty).

I would be looking for confirmation on that.
Missing the 1st service may = voided warranty.

Is this a dealer sale or private?

On my calendar, February 2013 is just over 2 months away. 2013 may be "next year", but we're nearly at the end of 2012!

BTW, the OP also started a similar thread on Bimmerfest under a different username.

Haha, you're right. I was totally thinking it was 2011 today. Stupid me. Yeah, 2 months might not be long enough to flesh out any serious issue. All the obvious issues could definitely be taken care of though, just pay an indy to give it a full run down then have the dealer fix it all under warranty.
