FCAB/RTAB OE vs Aftermarket debate

Like many here I'm interested in FCAB/RTAB replacement.

FWIW
I came across an Interesting read on M3 forum.

Seems there have been issues with some two piece poly bushings
& also discussion that with the RTABs moving in two axis & poly Powerflex type bushings.

Edit: read the thread you linked. Looks like the discussion is between OE + shims or poly.

Yeah...
I found the discussion about the RTABs moving in two axis very interesting.
I hadn't considered it before.

It sounds logical that the harder poly will restrict the 2nd axis of movement as the suspension compresses.

I was definitely looking to install powerflex (or similar) now I'm not so sure.
I might just put in the shims.

I think the FCABs are a little more straight forward.

RTABs and lowered cars

^I think Ill do the same.

...................
The other thing I suspect that has been overlooked by almost everyone with OE RTABs and a lowered ride height;

The OE RTABs are supposed to be installed w/o preload.
Lowering the suspension will add preload to the RTAB and should be adjusted out.
The OE RTABs flex the rubber as the suspension moves through its travel.
It should be in a neutral (non-flexed) position with the car at rest.

Anyone running aftermarket bushings this would not apply because they rotate.

I've fitted the Turner MS RTAB Limiter kit to my Z4MC and they do prevent the lateral movement of the OEM rubber bush in the 'x' plane, which prevents the dynamic change in rear toe angle that occurs with lateral loading, but still permits movement and rotation in the 'y' and 'z' axes.

I once fitted polyurethane RTABs on my Z3MC and whilst they did a great job, they drove me mad because they squeak like mice. I tried everything I could to try to stop the squeaking, but any lubricant failed after about 2k miles. I ended up refitting new OEM rubber bushes. Never again will I ever fit polyurethane bushes which needs to rotate or move.

Garage List
I put the Bimmerworld, Powerflex RTABs in. I did not use the grease provided by Powerflex. I used a hightemp, waterproof (non-water soluble) grease. No sqweeks, groans or noises. It DOES give increase the road noise from the rear tires. In fact, they allowed me to hear the left rear tire was out of balance. It also removes the swishyness from the rear end during cornering. The car takes a set and stays there....
