i reported the intake rubbin the hood issue long long ago.. however, much trial and error as found the perfect position where it doesnt rub at all... i'll take some detailed pics...... also helps having the stiffer engine mounts as the motor moves ALOT with the stock mounts, i was getting the p/s tank cap fouling the hood under extreme driving!!

loooool!!!! i think it MAY have came from me
ive noticed it a few times in different peoples pics lol!!!

definitely stops any excess liquid spewage

i trimmed the cap slightly too to give additional hood clearance, this combined with the competition mounts have stopped the contact issue..

the relocated powersteering tank lid WILL foul the hood under the extremes of driving.... you'll notice it takes the paint off after a trackday or really hard driving, if you shave off the "handles" at the 3'oclock position it will alevate the issue, the condom mod stops the fluid spraying all over the engine bay... which it WILL do too!! lol!!

shaving the handles combined with the VT engine mounts have stopped any rub issues ive had, including the intake top..... ive had the ess s/c system in 2 different guises over a good number of years so, ive done lots of trial and error with certain parts...

for example the ess supplied hose that connects the air filter to the s/c intake is rubbish, it needs replacing, it spits, goes brittle and falls to pieces....

41 degrees Celcius this weekend. I am going to melt.

I guess I need to see pics of the condom mod. I do have some splattering going on and she hasn't even been to the track.

How about some cooler weather so you can see what the kit is really like? Record heat isn't giving you full power.

Tell me about it. I also found that it feels very regular with the A/C at full blast. A friend of mine said "that's it."

I said "yes, with a 90 degree day and A/C full blast" These 107 degree days is not working for me.

A/C puts a noticeable load on this motor. 115 (46 c) maybe by mid-week.

Your friend needs another ride on an October morning.

Maybe 3.91 or perhaps even 4.10 gearing

We all need to escape to Laguna for the 60* degree track weather

Yup .... High heat and using the car hard will have you wondering??? What did I just spend all that money on???? They really drop off, the inlet to the intercooler literally hot to the touch.

With that being said, is this setup really a good track option? I'm sure spirited driving on public roads would be fine, but 30 minute sessions in Florida are probably worse than Arizona due to humidity. Sorry to go off topic. Feel free to pm me.

That's not off topic. You can pm GMD2003, since he tracks the ess 525. If you look at his posts, he found the lower hp ess kit to be the best for track with out additional mods like the radiator he just installed.

BTW, it still makes more power than stock when its hot. It just seems noticeable to me more than when she was NA. I also just got it, so my foot is in it a little more also.

Why does the e46 m3 get as ess 550 option at 9psi and we don't? Its has to be only a slightly smaller pully.

ermmm....... its quite scientific....

i used a thick sock.

cut in it half, and use the top condom end.... works perfectly and stops you engine bay being covered in p/s fluid...
