Help...runflats and lease return

Does anyone know if I can turn my car in at the end of the lease with non-run flats? I only have six months left and need to replace tires but do not want to purchase lame, expensive runflats. BMW says no....anyone done this? The lease agreement is a little fishy as to say "same grade, quality, and quantity as delivered with the vehicle."

Anyone done this? Sounds like a scam to sell tires!

Thanks is advance.

Not a scam. If you slapped on a set of $hit Cooper tires, who would buy the car? Not me!

I do not plan on putting junk on the car...just not runflats. In my, and other drivers, opinion, runflats are no good for performance. I think I should have options and not be trapped to basically one overpriced tire. Anyone messed with this before, or does everyone just buy these cars and do what they want?

I think you must return them with the same tires. It's best to call and check. What you can do is get non-RFT and use them for a while and just throw the RFT back on when you turn it back in. However, I think that the tires must have either 3/30 or 5/30 of tread left (unless you bought the wear & tear insurance).

It's up to the inspector that inspects the car when you turn it in wheather you are going to get charged for not having runflats.

I've seen a lot of lease return cars and not many runflats are on them.. so that leads me to think you would be able to get away with not returning it with runflats.

I called a few months ago and confirmed you must have the same tires your car was issued with. That's right Bridgestone Potenza Run Flats. At 300$ a pop, I'm glad I saved my stock set. Might be different depending on if your car came with different tires.
