Intake Troubles

I installed a new intake on my ZM4Coupe. It is a Zamota intake very similar to the GruppeM intake. There isn't much to it. There is the carbon fiber horn shaped intake, conical shaped filter and an aluminum sleeve that the MAF is installed into. It all ties together. The problem is when it is installed the engine hesitates and surges during acceleration. I have tried to adjust the angle of the MAF, I have cleaned the MAF several times, I have cleaned the filter very well. Someone told me just to keep driving it to see if the competer will adjust to it. I am out of ideas. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm not an expert around here, but I've installed 10+ intakes on cars that come to live with us. If it's not setting any codes, just drive it awhile. Won't hurt to check for any leaks though. Congrats on your new intake!

Well the engine kicked out a CEL code this afternoon. I have checked the entire system. There are no air leaks behind the MAF. Is there any way that there is too much air entering the system?
The code is P1424

Initially I had the MAF in a 3 o'clock position now it is in a 12 o'clock position. It still has the same result hesitation/ surging during hard acceleration.

Do you have a way to reset it and try again? It may have detected a leak while you were adjusting things.

This may be a stupid suggestion, but are you sure the MAF is facing the right way? I had an Altima and many people that installed the intake accidentally put the MAF in backwards, and it would do exactly what you described. In that case it was pretty easy to accidentally reverse it. Not sure about the Simota, but on the AFE the screw holes for the MAF were offset IIRC to help with proper alignment. Just a suggestion.
