maximum spacer size for Z4M with stock OEM wheels

Hi Guys - I did a search and didn't come up with much. So, what is the maximum size spacer one can put on a 07' Z4M with stock suspension and oem wheels? If anyone has pictures, I'd love to see them. Thanks.

I'm running 245/40/18 in front and 265/40/18 in the rear on OEM Z4M wheels

I had slight rub on the rears with 12.5mm with 265/40/18 lowered ~ 1". Fronts should work fine

I think you would get rub slight rub with 245 in the front and a 12.5mm spacer. I am lowered slightly (.5-1") and running stock 225 up front and over big bumps or tight corners I can hear a slight rub. I am not running spacers in the rear so cant say.

Ga41 is running 12.5mm and has rub in the front with Yokohama AD08s in stock sizes. No rubbing in the rear with a 12.5 spacer and stock size. He emailed me when I was asking about his BBK. Hope its okay I am quoting him.

Thanks Guys...so maybe I go with a 10mm in front and a 12.5 in the rear since I'm on stock suspension, but slightly larger than OEM tire sizes? I don't want to rub at all.

Anyone have pics of how this looks on OEM wheels?

I suspect you're fine with the 12.5mm on the rear on stock suspension. I would go with 5mm in the front however given the 245's. I don't believe 10mm spacers are advised for our HUBS - at least from TMS

Quote:
A note about 10mm spacers: Any 10mm spacer is considered a custom fitment. The stock hubcentric lip on BMWs can stick out by as much as 11mm. This leaves a gap between the spacer and the hub which seriously compromises safety.
I used 5mm with no issues.

Studs really isn't a good long-term answer [to vibration]. If you have vibration due to lack of hub lip, you should look into hub extenders. Turner and VAC both sell some.

Or the vibration could be a variety of other reasons, unbalanced wheel, lack of hubcentric adapters (if using non-oem wheel), if the hub is chamfered or not, etc.

That's correct. Although the rub i had was with hard driving, during daily driving it seemed to be OK.

Now i've got 235/40/18's front (before 225/45/18) still Yokohama AD08's, but since i've flattened those small plastic protrusions in the wheel wells it doesn't seem to rub even after a track day. Rears are same size as before, stock 255/40/18.

The most recent pictures i have are these but they're not the best to judge how much further out the wheels are now.

Here are some pics from my setup. I am running pilot super sports, 265/40/18 rear, 235/45/18 front. I am running a 12mm spacer in the rear and 7mm (all i had laying around) in the front. The rear is PERFECT with no rubbing on stock suspension, and the front are still sunk in pretty far, but whatever. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by is the hub chamfered or not? Is there 2 differents models or a modification you have done?

I am asking the question because I tried spacers last year (10mm and 12mm) and there was vibration. When I removed the wheels, I noticed that the spacers were not seating properly on the hub, like if the hub would need to be chamfered...

Thanks, the 12.5 in the rear looks really good!

Thanks, sounds like 12 or 12.5 will work well in the rear w/stock suspension on 265's. Looks good.

What kind of wheels do you have?

I started a thread a while back on spacer confusion, it may help. See my first and last post:

I have to check my wheels when I do my brakes. IIRC, OEM CSL have bevel type wheels.

Think I could get away with a 7mm front 12mm rear lowered on H&R coilovers about 2.2"
