Z4m Aem Infinity Harness In Progress :)
Hello everyone,
I post a dedicated thread about our development about the harness we build to plug an AEM inifinity 8 ecu on a bmw Z4M. For people who don't know, AEM ecu uses CAN ONLY ON BMW M3 E46, which has not the same ecu, and therefore the same harness.... CAN allows to the ECU to communicate with your cluster, clim, ABS, ESP, and all options of your car. You can even switch between different tune directly with steering button see that link below: And the most important thing, you can have one of the best ECU in your car, and develop the better tune for your car, especially for S/C conversion, turbo, N/A tune, NOS, watermeth... and have traction control, flat foot shift, no lift shift, etc... This ecu can give you also the possibility of keep an eye on your engine condition and prevent from failure with different coding... NO LIMIT I don't know why AEM did not develop a such P&P harness for Z4M and only for M3 E46... So we decided with my partner to develop an homemade harness to be able to wire the AEM and be compatible with CAN.. And it works!! The car starts in good condition, all cluster (rpm for instance) work perfectly, clim also... We have now to build a proper harness (maybe in MILSPEC specification), and we will be sooner able to sell a P&P harness to connect AEM ecu into your BMW Z4M There is some work to do, but we can do it. The following configuration of the car engine will be the following : - velocity stacks conversion with NOS or watermeth - tune with bioethanol - homemade camshafts (we will be able to sell these cams too!!) - proper manifold the expected power should be approx 400whp, which is enough for a track car. i will keep you inform about some news asap. Sorry for my bad english guys ! |

Along the same line, is rev match down shift possible?

I run the AEM 506 Infinity in my Z4. Love the ECU, and if your local (NJ) and need configuration/tune, PM me.

Hi Guys, sorry about not answer before, but i was really busy!!!!!
So here is some news about our project. First, please note that the AEM ECU works perfectly!! it is a "revolution" we developed an harness which is 100% compatible with CAN, so RPM, clim, DSC and other options are available. With this ECU you can switch between 8 maps directly on road with the speed regulator. FIRST ONE IN THE WORLD !!! a lot of job has already done elsewhere : - fitting aero parts : The wing is really useful on track, but i knew that before I also fitted a rear diff from Fancy wide: heavy parts, nuts and bolt are piece of shit, and not compatible with other muffler than Rogue. I decided to make some modification on it to fit correctly. Due to its conception, i think it is benefical on track too I am still waiting front splitter from IAN if you hear me - engine : i don't like to have a car similar to other...the Z is not enough powerful for some big track, so i wanted to get more power. I fit frequently some S/C into BMW, and i am no more fan...too much torque, engine become hot quickly..and add extraweight! To show our skill we decide to keep N/A engine, and reach 500hp It is a real difficult job. First, we made homemade camshaft more agressive, did some flow modification on the cylinder head, add new header, and designed billet velocity stacks!!! The AEM ecu has no limit for the development of the tune, it is really helpfull! I dont extend about some other minor modification, but with a such configuration we hit a lil bit more than 400hp, and 400nm.... We add also watermethanol into each intake cylinder, however it does not work currently as aftermarket nozzle are too big, we have to develop our own nozzle with the appropriate size. It will be a huge improvment, as after some track test, we note (but once again we knew that point) that power reduces a lot due to the heat inside the engine cover...approx 75 degrees according to our sensor. We have to improve fresh air flow, and with the help of watermeth there will be no more problem with that. For instance, the car runs as fast as OEM BMW M4 during the first lap, then at the end of the day (really shiny day but not as hot as summer !) i can follow only M3 E36...!!! The huge improvment is also the brakes: i fit 4 AP racing caliper with PFC 11 pads, i never thought it can stop the car like that!! i can push on the brake pedal just before the turn compared to my last Brembo caliper with pagid pads. Now we are on the final modification to reach 480/500hp before our next track days.... If you have Facebook, you can hear the intake sound here : https://www.facebook.com/ExelixisEtu...type=2&theater Stay tuned |

some amazing work here!!!
Others have tried & failed with the AEM, to pull that off is a great accomplishment!!!

I love the harness, but the ITB are not my cup of tea, only due to being unable to run those where i live due to no filtration will equal crap compression within too long, i get it as a track car, but besides that, its a non event. you might want to put a nylon stocking or something over those ITB to stop big bits entering the manifold.
very , very interested in the harness, and really looking for lots more updates. A job very well done you guys, you should be proud getting that to work. Very cool!!

Hi Guys,
I give you some news about my Z4 development.... We hit 445hp @8500 rpm!!! we make some work on the head engine (RV ratio, exhaust flow, intake, camshaft, cams...) We make a step by step tune and increase in power, as we don't want to break the engine! We have a real hope to get 480/500hp @9000/9200rpm... I will make some photos/video/dyno shoot asap Stay tuned ! |

Was this with the velocity stacks or another intake solution?
