Post So, we weighed the M

Me and Martin weighed our M Coupes yesterday on a professional racing scale, here are the results:

2008 M Coupe, 18" APEX ARC-8 wheels with Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD-08 (245/40 & 265/35)
- AP Racing kit in front (same weight as OEM)
- none electric seats
- no TV module
- no children seat thingy
= 1456kg (3210lbs) fully tanked => 1415kg (3119lbs) empty

2006 M Coupe, 18" APEX ARC-8 wheels with Michelin Pilot CUP (235/40 & 265/35)
- Braille B2317 battery (15kg(32lbs) saving)
- KW V3 (no weight information)
- none electric seats
- no TV module
- no children seat thingy
- no navigation
- no premium HIFI
= 1408kg (3104lbs) missing 15l of gas => 1378kg (3038lbs) empty

I forgot to say that my car (2008) had already AP racing brakes in the front mounted, but actually the brakes have the very same weight like the OEM, so it makes no difference.

Manual position adjustment, no heavy electric motors to move the seat and seatback.

I think all seat types, including the M sport seat, was available in a manual non-powered version with manual position adjustment.

Exactly, I guess they are called no-power seats? Anyways they are standard manual adjustable heated (did they all come heated?) M seats.

Which in the real world is nothing since we can all weigh 20 - 30lbs more or less. I weigh a buck eighty-five at 6 feet. 5 inches less and I'd prob weigh 20 lbs less. 5 inches more I'd prob weigh 30+lbs more

Wow I just checked and I didn't know it was that much difference. Curb weight for the3.0si is 1385 kg (3047 lbs) Curb weight for the Z4MC is 1466 kg (3225 lbs) +

What makes the 178lbs difference? That seems a bit high.

The N52B30 is an extremely light engine at 354 lbs, because of the materials its made from you can't supercharge it like you can the 3.0i engine; in turn the 3.0i M54B30 engine weighs about 375 lbs.

For comparison the S54 weighs about 478 lbs. Add in the weight of the hydraulic vs electric steering and that should account for most of the weight.

on top of what was already mentioned, you have the bigger brakes and suspension to carry everything that is heavier. And those brake ducts =)

Thanks, was looking for this info! I found that the Power seats are 28.5kg (62lbs) but I couldn't find the info on no-power seats.

So if the information is correct:
power seats = 28.5kg (62lbs) - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewto...p=27494#p27494
no-power seats = 20.4kg (45lbs)
