Need help: OEM Navigation & Bluetooth retrofit

I sold my OEM Navigation system and Bluetooth from my 2007 M Coupe.

I will be installing everything into a 2006 Z4 3.0i and we are switching dashboard too.

Is the Z4 pre wired like E46 or do I need to switch all the wiring harness from my car to the Z4?

Thanks

Marc

I did the NAV/Bluetooth retrofit in a Zpost member car last weekend. What a pain in the ass... It took so much time to do. We swap the dash and all the audio wiring harness...

Figure like 15hours of work if you are not too familiar with the z4 interior. The cockpit is so tight and there is a lot of trims to remove. Also the access in the trunk of a roadster is really tight.

You will need those parts to do the NAV/Bluetooth retrofit:

The radio wasn't working after swapping everything. I think it might need a reprogramation at the dealer. Will see how it will end.

It is trust me, I would not do it again.

You basically need to remove all the interior of the car and if you don't want to remove all the carpet, you need to cut under the center console to have access to the wiring harness.

Not really. I have retrofitted 2 of these.

Takes two hours to get everything in, and I took about 4 hours to cut the dash for the monitor.

The cable needed is the one from the satnav computer to the screen at the front. On the Z4-forum I did a how-to at the time as I think I was the first one to ever do a retrofit in late 2005.

No cutting required as the new partial harness just feeds under the carpet via the centre console to the dash.

Oh, and no programming required - ever. Any Z4 radio fits in any Z4 without programming.

Hi Guys

Just a quick mostly on topic question. I am about to buy a Z4 without the GPS (therefore without the in dash pop-up) but am thinking I would like ot put in a screen at some point soon. Is it posible to get hold of the replacement dash with the GPS screen pop-up unit and retro-fit it?

I really just want the motorised storage compartment and I'll put my own screen in there.

Basically want to get a second hand or spare on of these (with the surrounding dash to prevent cutting the original dash

and put it into this

Does anyone know if it would it require cutting a hole into whatever is below the dash panel?

Just cut the hole in the dash, that is what I did.

The monitor I bought new in Germany from a BMW dealer for just over $150, great price.

**edit**

You just updated the post before I replied

Only the top has a cut, nowhere else. The mounting positions are already ready underneath the dash for the screen legs. Just put the screws in the existing holes to fix the screen.

Cutting is not difficult, just measure it precisely.

The motorized assembly and monitor was $150?? Did you hook it up to something else? or use it as a retrofit project?
