Idrive Retrofit is available PIC Included!
Not sure how close you guys follow other forums but it looks like an idrive retrofit is a possibility in our cars. Check out this thread.
http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...in-E39-E38-E53 I pmed the guy to see if he has any interest in offering such a kit or had any plans to do so. This would be a great way to update the car especially for those with broken nav screens. [/IMG] It would be great to list some of our interest here to see if he can piece a kit together for us Last edited by CJW2OO4; 09-06-2016 at 08:42 AM.. |

I think with the combination of the leather z armrest (with the cut out futher towards the front of the car) we could have a close to stock appearance if the screen could fit in in the oem housing.
This also has a lot of pics with install examples. http://www.bmw-planet.net/nbt/BMW_NBT_iBUS.pdf Last edited by CJW2OO4; 09-03-2016 at 10:49 AM.. |

Interested.
I have the NAV in my roadster and I'm currently in the process of gutting it out of the car. I want to replace the audio system in the car completely. That includes the NAV but I was thinking of fabricating a stand alone screen that has much better resolution (as per current standards). With that being said, if someone is already on this, saves me a boat load of time. |

I think it would be great to have some nice gauges installed in the oem radio location to fill the void of the oem radio. I am not sure if the oem radio could still be incorporated.

The more I think about this, the more interested I am......... even if it's just to find out parts. If I read right, this guy is located on the other side of the pond. Would be interesting if we could fabricate a more local solution from a cost perspective (?!).

I find that my MKIV unit stops working when it's really hot outside (e.g. won't read disc). In addition to an iDrive retrofit, has anyone heard anything about the possibility of emulating the bulky DVD computer with SSD?
