Exhaust advice

I have had a set of Rogue El Diablo mufflers on my car for 5 months or so. I have decided that the low booming drone from 1,800rpm to 3,000rpm is just too much for daily driving. I really enjoy the sound after the drone and I would like to get a different exhaust with the aggressive sound without the drone.

Exhaust I am considering:
Meisterschaft
RPI
Eisenmann
Supersprint

I am looking for feedback from anyone with an exhaust or people who have owned multiple exhausts

Eisenmann sport, Supersprint sport, Remus, Arqray, or Stromung seem to be what you're looking for. The RPI are louder than Diablos.

I actually want a loud exhaust, it's just that the el diablo's have a particularly booming tone that the rpi's don't seem to have( or at least i cant distinguish on youtube)

Anyone that has gone from el diablo's to something else have some insight?

I put on Stromungs a month ago and they are loud/raspy on accelleration but not too drony at RPM's that you can find in any gear and cruise along. Window down love the noise myself - drives my wife nutser.

Something that might help before you spend money on another system. If you look at a number of factory BMW mufflers, you will see a weight attached which acts as a sound attenuator (vibration absorber- /Real OEM18103412864) which modifies the drone characteristics. Some of these actually have freqency ranges on them.

I put one on my work vehicle (99 Expedition) which has a straight through magnaflow muffler and has terrible resonance. Had to experiment a little with placement. The result is that for freeway speeds the drone is noticeably improved, hard accelleration still sucks though. I got mine from a local salvage yard for $5. Pick up a couple of weights and U Clamps and attach as close as you can to the inlet side of the muffler as a good place to start. If it works, you can stay with the clamps or have a bracket welded on for each muffler. For the money and time, it's worth looking into.

I'm in full aggreement-I put the Stomungs on 3-4 weeks ago and it transformed the car from silent to sports. On acceleration you will get some volume but at constant throttle it is pretty tame. Ye, it is louder than stock.

Stromung is what I had initially considered, but decided against it because it would be too tame. Can anyone comment on the meisterschaft cans in terms of drone/volume/tone?

I now love my Supersprit Race cans, though it can be a bit boomy at lower RPM. I just learn not to drive in that rpm range!

Haven't done a lot of in-person comparison, but I do like the Stromungs that I installed a few weeks back. Like Mike mentions about the Supersprints, I do find the Stromung boomy under 3k rpm, but anything is better than the quiet stock mufflers.

Everyone talks about the Stromungs being "drone-free", but that hasn't been my experience. I haven't driven in a car with RPI or Diablos, so maybe it is a matter of scale that people are experiencing, but the Stromungs can buzz at the low end. The drone isn't loud enough to drown out conversation, which is nice when my wife is with me. At the end of the day, I didn't replace the mufflers in the hopes of creating tranquility anyway!!

if you're looking to sell your el diablos and are willing to ship for a good price, i might be interested in picking them up.

all of my previous cars have been straight-piped, so i don't mind a little bit of drone. as long as it doesn't have a horrible rasp (which i haven't been able to hear on youtube videos, unfortunately i haven't heard one in person), this will probably work for me.

I put Eisenmann race on my ESS supercharged Z4M roadster....definitely no too loud, especially for a rag top. I hoped they would be louder, but do like the low tone.

i have RE diablos also.. get the dkf hangers and adjust them properly.. i lost some drone effectively.. i enjoy the sound of my exhaust now more than before

I have the RPI's and like them just fine, but given what you're trying to avoid I don't think you should select the RPI's. I find that they drone a fair amount up until 3200-3300 RPM or above. They sound great after that.

so they droned before you installed dkf hangers / made and adjustment?

Update: I installed the DKF hangers yesterday, which only took about 30 mins. Props to the guys at DKF for making a fantastic product that does exactly what they claim. I am extremely impressed with the reduction in vibration and drone. The sound of the Rogue El diablos is absolutely intoxicating now. I could not be more pleased.

so how much did it reduce the drone? considerably, or just noticeably?
