I wouldn't do it, I think extended warraties are a waste and a gigantic ripoff. If they were such a great deal to us, the dealer wouldn't offer them. Think about it.

I didn't extend mine either. *Knock on wood*. I've never really owned a car without a warranty so I feel almost naked driving in it...but on the other hand, these cars were built to be driven. As long as you keep up with the maintenance, I think you will be fine. At least that's what I am hoping for!

I thought about it but decided against it. Car seems to be pretty solid... especially compared to my old 2003 E46 M3.

thats what i've been thinking, down side is and i hope it never happens, if i ever need an engine or transmission repair it'll be expensive, plus if i get it i dont have to worry about basic maintenance, electric, mechanical, etc, just my thought... i dont know what the chances of something like that happening really are, im pretty careful with my car, i try no to abuse it even though im sure it will take the ponishment.

I am in the same situation as you my warranty expires in 2 months and I don't know if i am going to extent it. i am not worry about transmission problems bc my dealer just replaced it when my car only had 65k and now i have a brand new transmission. but now I am worry about the engine or problems with the convertible that why i am thinking about getting it.

I bought mine cpo-ed and the only items i've had replaced are the driver side cupholder and a rear license plate light bulb. Not worth it for an extended warranty though i've got a year and a half to go. Jair, we need to meet up again so I can check out ur ride!

My warrantys up this week and Im having the same dilemma. I really dont want to shell out $3300 only to bring my car in and have an issue actually getting something covered (which has happened in the past since my car has been in an accident).

^sure thing, i'll definitely be in san antonio end of the month for coffee and rides at the vines off 1604 and blanco. do come out! we'll have like twin cars

as for extended warranty, think about it this way - bmw of san antonio SUCKS. bmw of austin though, at least from perusing their facility and hearing from tejas cca members, is pretty good. for low mileage though, really no need for extended warranty imo.

Actually you will have to worry about maintenance. The extended warranty doesn't cover that. You will need the extended maintenance plan which is $2400 I believe and will cover oil changes, inspection, etc. My warranty is up next month too and I'm not going to bother with extended warranty or maintenance. I'm due for inspection 2 in 10k miles but ill just take it to a local shop for half the price.

^sat 30th apr for sure i'll be at the vines between 8.30am to 9am. maybe we can swap cars so u can get a better feel for a cdv delete + some crazy rpi muffler goodness? and i can, um, finally remember what it's like to drive a stock z4m? haha, no offense but i really felt the stock aural experience was too muted.

beware the mod virus though, it's crazy infectious....

i was actually planning on extending both warranties for about $6000 but i've been thinking about it and im gonna pass, i dont think is worth it, i only drive my car on the weekends and i got 15k till my next inspection, so it'll be a while before i need it, i dont think ill take advantage of the warranty for what its worth.

^first comes the zpost addiction, then the mod addiction

i'd recommend mark at the dbc tuning place for any kind of out-of-warranty/maintenance work u might have (like my inspection I i did the other time). i was also referred to brian, a private detailer, by berk at dbc, so they've got some pretty good contacts too. looking at getting a full exterior detail before summer comes around

In my opinion you should get it if only for peace of mind. When I bought mine I didn't have the option to get the extended warranty but if I did, I would have. Almost all of our clients opt in for it.

my exstended warranty costed me $1200 bucks from the dealer and so far its piad for itself a whole bunch times over,

they so far have fixed since my car left its warranty

replaced lifters due to tapping (n52) $800
replaced head due to tapping again (n52) over $10,000
replaced inner roof lining due to broken tab. $800
replaced all 4 tires after 12000 miles due to excessive road noise. over $1200
replaced cup holder pass, side. $100
replaced gas cap locking mech. uknown
replaced leaking auto trans pan $600
fixed paint defect $1000

so about $15,000

not to mention 4 weeks of BMW loaners at a value of $75 dollars a day equals about $2100. in rental costs.

so to date if i was not covered id have to have paid close to $17,000 dollars is costs. yikes!!!!

though i would have lived with most of it otherwise lol!!!

by the way my car only had 39K miles when i bought it.

Now it makes sense why Arxangel suggests you buy a warranty...

good to know, thanks for the info, you did save a lot, do you drive an m coupe or just a coupe? i dont wanna be rude about it but M's seem to be better built since they are high performance vehicles, so far i've never hear of someone that owns an M having to fix that
many problems on a vehicle with that low mileage but once again you never know.
