On another forum someone posted the breakdown of colors for the North American model run, and I thought some of you would be interested. Sorted in descending order:

SAPPHIRE BLACK........................592
INTERLAGOS BLUE METALLIC................297
TITANIUM SILVER METALLIC.................212
SILVER GRAY METALLIC......................209
IMOLA RED.............................204
ALPINE WHITE..........................148
SEPANG BRONZE METALLIC...................68
SPACE GRAY METALLIC ........................48

I'd feel extra special right now if I had the Carbon Metallic.

There are 297 IB Coupes. I am buying one soon, and there is one that parks in the building across the street from me. what are the odds...

Ha. I feel pretty special now driving one of the 48 Space Gray Z4MC's. But of course I need to thank you again for persuading me to pull the trigger. In retrospect, I don't think I'd have bumped into another Space Gray Z4MC that would've made sense for me to buy (I wouldn't have bothered getting another silver gray), so I'd almost certainly still be stuck with driving my POS Z4MR right now if it wasn't for you.

297/1815 = 16.4% chance

However, this explains why half the M Coupes I've seen (okay, only 4) have been Sapphire Black.

i didn't know SG was actually one of the rarest.. =)
surprising to see it even more rare than Sepang Bronze, which I thought was the rarest

Oh gee for all the whining about "we aren't Corvette owners, we don't care about stuff like that" there seems to be some interest. The "someone on another forum" was me. I paid Wildag the access fee to the database and I went to the trouble of sorting and counting the different colors. Because I thought some people might be interested.

Err, the someone on another forum was Shipkiller over on Z4forum; I cut and pasted this from a post of his. I mention that in the roadster posts. Is that your username on that board?

Would be nice to get world wide figures - Since i never get to compare my car in these stats :P
But heres the color of my car anyway. Its Carbon Shwartz Metallic aka Carbon Black Metallic i believe.

Space Grey was only available in the 08 model year, replacing Silver Grey that was used on the 06s and 07s. If you combine the figures for the two "medium" grey colors used, it would edge out Ti Si as third most popular color.

16.4% * the probability that there is another MC that parks across the street.

I would say this is fairly low.

You forgot to condition your probability.

I'm glad you came over to the other side of the Z4 coin. To think... there isn't enough Space Grey to span one per State.

And yours in particular is the hawtest looking Space Grey out there IMHO.

so it is really a deep deep blue, huh!
I suppose this is as close as I'll get to see one, coupe or roadster.

by the way, too bad the third LED brake light isn't clear, as opposed to red. hmm

Thanks! Yep its a very very dark blue. Only shines like that under lights otherwise it looks very dark. Pretty cool except i have no idea what color mods to get to go with the color!
With the brake light was it a yearly thing to get a clear brake light or country differences?

Depends on what mods you're doing... anything looks good with Carbon Black.
For the 3rd brake light; coupes are red, roadsters are clear.
