Turn signal indicator too quiet

Think it would be difficult to hook a louder beeper to the turn signal? My turn signal won't auto-cancel unless I really pull a full 90 degree turn. I've caught myself driving with it on after turning several times. I'm afraid I'll not notice it someday and someone will pull out in front of me thinking I was going to turn.

Any thoughts?

I guess you could just try to remember that you put it on a few seconds ago. hahahaha

I tried keeping my hand on it so I remember to turn it off. But sometimes when I'm approaching an on- or off-ramp I flip it on so the trucker behind me knows I'll be slowing. Then I forget it's on. I just wish it didn't take a 90 degree turn to get it to cancel.

Sorry, but doesn't the blinking light in your instrument cluster attract your attention? IIRC, the turn-signal click is actually louder in the Z4 than most of the rental cars I've driven.

Usually when I lane change or make slight turns (like onto an on ramp) I just lift/push the lever far enough to trigger the signal without getting it to lock, and hold it for a couple of blinks. You can also get your dealer to program it so that doing so triggers the signal to flash three times, even if you release the lever. The previous owner did that on the M and it's really a nice convenience.

Mine is programmed for 3 pulse lane change, I love it.

The sound level is a complete none issue for me,
I've heard louder ones & dislike them.

The way I sit in the car, the steering wheel blocks the flashing indicators. And it may be loud in a coupe, but in a roadie at highway speeds, it's buried by wind noise.

I asked the dealer about setting it to cancel after three blinks. They said my '06 is not equipped for that.

I was just hoping there was some fairly easy way to tie a beeper into the system. Probably not, though. Guess I'll just have to get in the habit of keeping my hand on the stalk through the turn or lane change.

As usual, the dealer doesn't know his ass from page 9.
I had it on my 06 M Roady

Is it a specific option? Isn't called Lane Change something or other? If it is an option, it should be easy enough to check if mine is so equipped.

No, it's not an option.
It's in the car memory settings, just needs enabling.

Yes, it is not an option but can be enabled on all Z4s I believe. I think I could have even enabled it on my '04 M3 (never did though, didn't want to have to deal with the dealer....)

It is only for when you just move the lever in one direction or the other to signify a lane change as if you were on the freeway changing lanes; when you do not move the lever past the detent where it then stays on. I do not believe it will disable the turn signal when you move the lever past the detent as in the situation when you are sitting at an intersection getting ready to make a turn and have turned your turn signal on.

You could get the stealer to make this option active for you, but I don't think it is going to fix your particular problem. When the turn signal is active from moving the lever past the detent, so that the signal is on until you make a turn or push the lever back, I do not think there are any mods available to defeat the turn signal.

^it's not an option in the sense that it has to be ordered.
It's standard in all cars as a selectable software option, programmed by the dealer or indi tech.

Exactly, I concur - sorry for the confusion.
