Anybody have this same problem?

On my m seats I noticed that I have little tear in the back of the seat behind the headrest which is a felt like material. Anybody have something similar? If so how did you go about to fix it?

It seems like it is caused by someone moving the seats too far back and hitting the roll
hoops in the back.

I wrote a thread on this problem here.

At least I think this is the same problem based on your description.

Dealer probaby won't fix the seat, since it was owner-induced. You can cover it or patch it, or ignore it.

The leather fix is first class!!! Did that price include the install? Do you think they would sell/ship the item? Seems like there could be quite a market for this item. Suprised LeatherZ does not already offer.

I agree the fix looks so 'factory' you wonder why BMW didn't do it that way in the first place. I Dunno about a kit, it was basically two pieces of leather edge-stitched and fitted into/around existing seat. Most of the skill was in the installation. But yeah a kit ot two precut, color matched pieces might be good if LeatherZ had the desire to produce one.

Chatsworth Upholstery did a great job basically from scratch in about 90 minutes. I bet you could find an auto upholstery shop to do the same for you; maybe ask a local vintage car restorer for a recommendation.

I keep the owner's manual "book" behind the rear passenger seat on the floor, which prevents the seat from going back so far, seems to work.

Hmmmmm.....I don't have this problem at all and I'm frequently adjusting the seat. I have extended leather, so maybe that has something to do with it. I Guess I'll consider myself lucky for the time being.
