Where do you guys put your iPod when using the AUX hookup? I stick mine in the ashtray... but take a corner too fast and the iPod goes shooting across the car.

I use a retractable cord and keep it short. That way the iPod stays in the ashtray.

I use ProClip for my iPhone. They have custom holders for many devices.

I trap my iphone in the adjustable leg section of the passenger sport seat but am in need of something better. I like the looks of the proclip but not sure if I want to go that route.

Reading this thread inspired me to look in on the Bavarian Soundwerks website for speaker upgrades. I spoke with Soundwerks last fall regarding the gawdawfulness of the BMW "premium sound system". It turned out they had the same sensitivities I have regarding music recreation via hifidelity vs BMW's totally lameass crap. To cut to the chase, the main problem with the gawdawful BMW pieceofshit sound system is the actual speakers. And, since I have little respect for boomy overpowering subs, and since I beleive humans live in the mid range of the sound spectrum and find themselves most influenced by the midrange response, this is the area that I find the biggest need for improvement and the biggest opportunity for a quantum improvement at reasonable cost. There was total agreement from Bav Soundwerks on these points and they mentioned they were working on a speaker upgrade package. Anyway, as I said, I just took a look at their website and was happy to see a speaker package priced and "soon to be available". Perhaps a group buy might be of interest (I can't imagine anyone not wanting to get rid of the stock BMW speakers).

ok, so I've installed the OEM AUX kit, works great, easy install.

but when I'm running my iPhone through AUX and have it hooked to a car charger, I'm getting the electrical interference (i.e. high pitch whine)...anyone know a good solution to eliminate the interference?

I think this may have been covered before by others but I have no idea what to search on in the forums LOL

EDIT- I think i'm in need of a ground loop isolator?

EDIT #2- just ordered the Griffin audio cable w/ the ground loop isolator built in...$13.99 on eBay

it's a common enough problem as Griffin built a cable and Amazon had some 32 reviews about it

i'd say your coupe is probably wired much better
