Great price mate, yeah you can't go wrong for that money. I don't mind running a spacer, and I would have preferred 8.5 and 9.5 in the width, but the stock width 8 and 9 on the 224 is wide enough already, and I already have new front rubber that this way I can reuse. Currently running a 10 Mill spacer in the front and 5 Mill in the rear. Much over 10mm to 15th spacer max and I won't do it.
I love the black roof mate, that's going to be my next investment.. But I am going to see about a gloss wrap for my roof. I ran 20mill spacers on my z3 and that was less than optimal. ;_) your wheels suit the car very well mate and Def makes it stand out. Another question I have is about the front tire size, which currently is 235/40, 18, and compared to the rear, 275/35r18 looks a little to rounded, wish they made a 235/35.. : D Yeah any help or info with the et35 offset would be great guys I wanna get in the apex stud conversion sale before the 31st, so would be great to know what length set to buy, but I'd need to know what spacers I need on my M to run et35 flush_ish.. I've recently been won over by the CCW setup that came with my ESS Z4M - 18x9ET32 front, 18x10ET25 rear with 255/35/18 and 275/35/18. I haven't had any DSC issues with the slightly different diameters. No rubbing on stock suspension. Though I haven't been able to really push the car yet due to winter weather, the extra front grip seems to have reduced understeer.
One of the downsides is you can feel the extra tire. It's hard for me to articulate. It's like driving with the rear wheels on the front of car. There's increased road noise and a mild increase in tramlining. The car is terrifying to drive in the rain. Taking it all into consideration though, I think these sizes are ideal for my needs. OP, I realize it's more expensive to get the wheels you want based on your location, however, my opinion is that you should either spend the extra cash or hold off completely. Some people like to change things up just to do something different. I get that, but it would be hard for me to justify spending that much money for an aesthetic change with zero performance benefits, especially considering the hassle it is to import wheels.

Vanne,
Get the longer studs, and get these lugs http://www.amazon.com/Muteki-32906B-...ds=muteki+sr48 A handful of us have them. They look good, and because they're open ended, they will hide the variation in stud length from front to back. Having the longer studs is nice because you can throw literally any spacer on there and know you have enough grip length for it to be safe. |

Well, I bit the bullet today after mucking around with the offset calculator mentioned in the wheels and rims thread... I have some good news and some.... Bad news.
A few teaser pics follow.. And a bit of a story. And final checking Then final suspension change with camber settings. wheels, mostly because with my stock 224's the ride was bouncy enough after my suspension upgrade months ago. The H&R springs sure do make for a solid ride, no need to go and make it any worse getting 19 inch-ere. so I went today and purchased the above wheels, 8J and 9J et35 respectively, and surprisingly enough they fit like a glove. Even after dialling in some nice camber in the front. (had to pull the pins) , and now i think it could even possibly use a 3mill spacer in the front. (previously i had a 10mill spacer in there) the rear possibly could also use a 3mill spacer (zero atm) so very happy with the wheels and the fitment, i was in the shop for over 3 hours talking and adjusting the settings with 3 guys from the shop, they loved the car and were very eager to get it just right. (never knew under the little mud flaps at the back there are adjustments that can be made there also, no shop I've ever visited has ever adjust things there when doing an alignment. car looks reasonably flush atm, and possibly even nicer when i chuck the 3 mill spacers in there.. (after getting my new lug kit I gotta admit i was rather a little worried that the wheels would stick out of the fenders, and that would have been a no go for me. So atm, i have zero rubbing and the ride is AWESOME! now for the bad part (well its actually good, but lets see), i also ordered 2 new rear tires, DZ101 275/35/18 as they were on the car when i bought it, and i like the handeling that these tires give. here in Dubai, you can only run tires for 4 years, regardless of how much thread/life is left on the tire. my rears were year 11 production, so in 3 months my rego check would have failed, so i though, the heck with it, get 2 new rears at the same time as fitting the new rims… bloody lucky i did… the whole side of that tire had de-laminated and was even missing a large piece of thread.. bloody lucky… so if there is anything to be learned here guys, please check your tires at least monthly guys, i recon i was lucky to get away with that, and who know what would have happened if that would have let go at 130-160kms/h… back to the story, I'am hoping for some nice weather tomorrow, and hopefully take a few worthy shots gotta thank all you guys in this thread who responded and tried to help out, its hard visualising the car without actually seeing the wheels first, i gotta admit, very happy with the rims, and keeping my 224's for track outfit JD, thanks for the email mate, also thanks to the other peeps in this thread as it just goes to show how helpful this forum is. bloody AWESOME!!!! Nice wheels, but I fear you're always going to wonder how much better they'd look in 19" (which they most certainly would). I'm bummed out you chose to believe the "19s give a harsh ride" crowd. They couldn't have been more incorrect.

Nah. A quality set of wheels and tires in 19 and the "performance boost" is negligible. And surely lateral sidewall stiffness cannot be better on the 18.

Very nice, those are some of my favorite wheels on the Z4.
That must be a hell of a shop, to have 3 guys helping with an alignment and tires. Looks like the most expensive scissor lift I've ever seen, too. |

I know some 19s have improved significantly in recent years & the performance gap has narrowed slightly. My reference was more to track performance, and from experience with many different wheels, including high end 19 Rays on my M roadster (among other 19s on other cars) that there is a significant difference. It's not just the weight of the the wheels, it's where the mass is located. A large percentage of wheel mass is in the rim itself, and by moving that mass further out it would affect performance even if the wheel/tire package combined weight was identical. The other factor is a much better tire selection.

OK, the search for a set of non-track wheels just finished.. i Bought a set of CSL wheels, 19x8.5et38
19x9.5et27 now remember guys, these are not for my track days, i have my other set for them. After my shop told me that one of my 224's had a crack in it, i need some setup for stock road driving aswell. so wheels should be here next week from the UK now i just need to now what rubber sizes will best fit on these wheels. i was thinking 285/30/19 and 245/35/19.. or 275/30/19 and 235/35/19 please keep in mind that my ride has H&R lowered suspension and running a bit of neg camber.. -1 for the rear and -1.7 at the front. i def don't want any rubbing nor any damage to my arches/tires. sorrry to drag this thread on again, but id love some help guys

i ran 235/35 265/30 on my CSLs, if its good enough for the CSL its certainly good enough for the z4m, space your front wheel by 5mm if possible as you running neg camber that will look very sunken at -1.7
