S54 Valve Adjustment with Kaiv

I hit 60,000 miles on my M coupe this last weekend, and sheduled Kevin to adjust my valves.

The dealership was going to cost me $1,300 for the valve adjustment alone, and a reputable BMW Mechanic was going to charge me $800. Kevin's price was more than fair. Just shoot him a PM.

Adding to what is already known about Kevin, I wanted to reiterate his professionalism, attention to detail and overall good character. All these traits combined is very hard to find in the world of car mechanics.

Kevin showed up and left my house in a little less than 3 hours. He knew exactly what to do, and took time to explain the entire process. While the fan and shroud were out, he noticed that my AC belt was showing some age, and had a new one on hand. He switched it out for me right then and there. He checked my VANOS Hub and Cam Bolts (which are known to shear on E46's). I also took that time to change out the VANOS micro filter.

If any of you are up for a valve adjustment and are within reasonable driving distance from San Diego, I would highly recommend Kevin. Don't haveto deal with dropping your car off to sit overnight at a shop or worry about a shady mechanic cutting corners with steps and parts.

I'm glad my engine looked great with 60k on the odometer and only 4 valves were out of spec by only 0.05mm!

Never hear anything but good things about Kaiv! Only "negative" is that he's in SoCal, because he may just have more experience on S54 valve adjustments than anyone!

Kevin's work is top notch!

He's also nice guy and a fellow enthusiast! He's done my last two valve adjustments and he'll be rebuilding my Vanos in the next week or two with Beisian seals, rattle kit and pump disk as well as new cam bolts and upper timing chain guide. All for about what a dealer would charge for a valve adjustment.....Hopefully he will be bringing his S54 swapped e36 M3 along for me to drool over.

How many miles do you have on your car? I'm considering having him do at least the pump disk and timing chain guide on my next valve adjustment.

I'm just about to hit 98K. No issues. Just doing it for piece of mind for the next 100K miles! Kevin offered to do it for such a good price it was a no brainer.
