ZKW-R lens swap on Z4M

Some added comments. The best way to remove the high beam wire is to pull the HID housing out a little to gain access and then pull the stubborn thing off. Don't break it.

Also, don't tighten anything too tight or you'll break the plastic. Just nicely snug.

Don't lose those little green spacers that might stick to the HID housing.

Lastly, align your lights when you're finished with the reinstall. They might need a small adjustment. My driver side was way too high. It could've been too high prior to any of this but I didn't know because it was too dim.

I shot these videos all in one take so bear with me trying to do everything with one hand.

Here is where I ordered them.
http://www.lightwerkz.net/index.php/...lear-lens.html
They are the ZKW-R 3" lenses.

Here are the videos.

Excellent. Can you update the original post with the link to the lenses?

I will be doing these very soon. Going to order lenses tonight. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

What do you estimate the install time was? Assuming you didn't have to film the whole thing?

For someone's first attempt... 2-3 hours total. The second side will be faster since its the same thing. Add 15 minutes per dropped nut. Also, I highly recommend the deep socket 7mm. It's such a small size nut that I bet most people won't have a deep socket 7mm in their tool arsenal.

Wow, awesome job!! I wouldn't have had the cojones to do this without a DIY. I'll probably do this when I get around to replacing my lights. Now all you have to do is figure out a way to make the dummy HID into a real one....

Excellent job!!!

I went ahead and ordered a set of the lenses. Figured why not?!? 40 bucks shipped is not bad at all! I haven't done any night driving yet in the M, but love to tinker! Can't wait to give it a go!

Thanks for the write up!

Just ordered the lenses as well as a pair Osram CBI bulbs. I wanted to make sure I got the biggest improvement possible.

Will try to get some before and afters.

Or maybe you can take a picture comparing your left/right (modified/unmodified) light output? Appreciated.

That's an interesting thought. I'll keep that in mind and try to grab a shot of that if it's convenient.

I'm glad to see others trying this. My headlights used to be one of my least fav parts of the car. Now they are up to par with the rest of the vehicle!

You're the man for getting this done. I completely agree. Headlights are the single most disappointing aspect of our cars.

When you get a chance, can you take a picture of your lights at this angle.

I've got a fairly large gap. I don't recall what this is supposed to look like stock.

Thanks. It worried me a little, especially next to the dummy.

Install is done w/ the help of Cyberkaa. I'll get after shots tonight.
