Halfway Home w/my new M Coupe (Pics and First Impressions)
Well, I picked up my ///M today down in Houston. Was a little irked that someone had stolen the M badge from the right side while it sat on the dealer lot, but other than that, I couldn't have been happier. Perfectly clean, no dings, interior is pristine, engine bay immaculate, runs like a champ. Not to mention it looks like sex on wheels...
The journey back home to Indianapolis is about 17 hours, so I decided to pull over a bit outside of Memphis and crash for the night. Gives me a chance to relax and post my thoughts so far. So, here are some of my first impressions: Style: Pictures don't do this car justice. It may look beautiful in pictures, but in person, it is downright breathtaking. I'm pretty sure I just stood slack-jawed for a few moments when I first walked up to what I realized was going to be my car. Performance: HOLY SH*T!!! Those were the exact words coming out of my mouth the first time I gave it what I thought was going to be a small amount of throttle for the first time. This car is a beast, pure and simple. It's as if it WANTS and NEEDS to go fast, which is simply awesome. Case and point, I was stuck behind a slow work truck going about 10 below the speed limit going through some twisties; I finally got tired of it and decided to put the 330 ponies to good use. I was going about 60 at the time in 6th gear; I dropped it into 4th and mashed the pedal, sped around the truck and by the time I got back into the proper lane I looked down at the speedo and watched the needle fly past 100 MPH! What's really crazy is just how damn smoooooth the car felt at that speed, solid, as if it was begging to be driven at that speed. Breathtaking. Comfort: Okay, obviously it is an M car, so you can expect a more sport-tuned suspension and ride, but I was a little shocked at first at how you can feel every bump and nuance of the road you're driving. Once I got used to it, though, I actually started to like it. I've never felt more connected to a car than I have with this one. I found the leg room and head room to be plenty (I'm 5'11") and loved the supple leather seat with its 5 million variations in position to pick from. Overall Impression: If it were legal to marry a car, I think I would have proposed today... As promised, here are some pics. Once I get home I'll get her waxed/detailed and then take some better photos with a more suitable backdrop. |

Another sweet silver grey coupe! Might as well rip off that other M badge on the left side since the right one is gone. I took those off of mine and it looks so much cleaner. I feel like BMW barfed M badges on the car on this one...just a little bit overboard...

A 2004 Sapphire Silver Blue Chrysler Crossfire. This is definitely a bit of a step up. Yup, sure is. I fell in love with the color and was lucky enough to get one. My other color choice would have been Sepang, but I couldn't find one with low enough miles for sale. Quote:
Time for me to hit the road again. |

Gawd it's great to hear a good love story. Really happy for you. I imagine the picture from your motel room was because you couldn't sleep and missed it too much!

I love the pic from your hotel room window. It reminds me of when I drove mine home . Barely slept a wink & got up 3-4 times to check on it.

I am sure most of us here can voice the same experiance when we picked up ours! Hell, my first one was totaled and I turned around and bought another in the same color. There was no other worthy alternitive in my mind.

Love the silver--it picks up different light during the day and has so many dimensions (like Sepang). Great first impressions of the car! Quite a little beast isn't it? And yes, it's really hard to take your eyes off it! Can't imagine parking it first day I had it outside--I'd have been up every 15 minutes to check on it like Intgr8r. Good recommendation Huz-Z, F150s, indeed. Also I'd expect a lot of F250s and F350s on his route home. Safe travels home, have fun cleaning her up this weekend!
Yes, indeed, I know the feeling. Almost impossible to resist for me, which is why I was at the track 2 days last weekend, and will be there again in 10 days, and have added AutoX to the menu as well. I find this makes it a lot easier to keep my right foot in check on the street! |

Congrats!
Just a heads up... It looks like, from your last pic, that your rear bumper cover isn't mounted properly because you have a big line gap between the bumper and the quarter panel. Looks great though mang!

To OP and All.....
There is big gap between rear fender and rear bumper in first pic and also there is huge gap between trunk and bumper on left side compare the the gap between trunk and bumper on left side. Take the car to body shop and let them inspect if that rear bumper or rear fender was repainted???????????????? Quote:
