Friday afternoon standing outside with friends about 75feet from my car, I watched powerless as an old lady tried to back up straight. Instead she turned her wheel slightly and backed right into me.

Currently at the body shop awaiting a new door.

Ouch! I usually park a mile away and still worry. Silver should be not too bad for repair. Good luck!

Nooooooooooooo! She didn't even have the deceny to ram the side skirt and then you could pick up the Aero skirts!

Also, that's silver right? Silver is a bitch to match from what I've heard, good luck!

they'll have to respray the side skirt to blend the door properly, sounds like an opportunity to save on the cost of aero side skirt painting.

its good to hear that nobody was injured, although I know I would be put out if someone damaged my car like that. Let's hope this gets repaired properly and quickly.

Ouch! Sorry to see this. Not to be pessimistic, but silver is always super hard to match. Make sure it goes to a very good body shop.

RUFKM is the only response when watching something like that. I'm sure it'll be fine. Better than a top side panel (hood, trunk, roof) that is more exposed to the sun and fades more.

I was once playing horseshoes at a friends house next to his driveway where my freshly detailed 944 was parked. With beer in hand, I watched as a freewheeling horseshoe lazily rolled in a gentle ark towards my car and hopped off the driveway lip to put a nice dent in my door. A sad smirk came to my face...I had been the one who tossed the horseshoe. Sometimes shit just happens.

JCF, I'm so sorry. I know how you feel, though my damage wasn't quite that bad or conspicuous on the back bumper. If you haven't already picked a shop, you might want to check out Loren Koski at Import Paint and Body. Loren is a good guy that really knows his stuff. His shop used to be right across from Hendrick BMW on Independence. I assume it is still in the same place. I met Loren years ago when he used to allow a guy to do Zaino detailing demos in his shop on weekends. I think Loren even had a Z at one time (maybe a Z8).

JCF, I just noticed where you said your car is already at the body shop. Hopefully they will do an excellent job. Are you also going to get fangs touched up, etc? I haven't taken mine in, yet, but when I do, I'm going to get resprays on the bumpers, fangs touched up, and probably the bottom side panels touched up. Evidently we have a lot of rocks around here.

Salty- Not having the fangs fixed, just the door. As I'm contemplating having the entire thing repainted to Montego blue at some point.
