CSL reps on Z4MC

Hi All,
I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of 19" VMR VB3 CSL reps. I have done some research but most of the poeple who have these rims are E46 owners. I was hoping some MZ4 owners could chime in with personal experience. I would be going with 19x8.5 et 40 up front with 245/35s and the aggressive 19x10 et 25 in the rear with 275/30s. On stock suspension and ride height. One of my big concerns is it seems the few Z4 owners that make the switch have complained about the added weight over the stock 18's while the M3 owners haven't seemed to notice much coming from their stock 19s. Is the difference really that bad? I have read people saying it corrupts the steering and slows the car down noticeably.
I was also concerned with rubbing. It seems the fronts are the issue. Would anyone with the setup care to comment? Shoud I go 235/35 instead? Lastly, and more subjectively, I'm trying to decide on silver vs. hyper black (which from pics I've seen is similar to the old BMW chrome shadow finish on the E39 M5s and S54 Z3M). My coupe is imola red and think this might make ot stand out a bit more. Also just any other general comments about the VMRs would be appreciated.

I think you're referring to unsprung mass savings by going with a lighter wheel setup. There a few wheel offerings out there that offer weight savings over the stock 18" wheels. Feel free to shoot over a PM for more details!

A fellow M Couper up here had some VMR 19's in gunmetal. Paint chips easily and they are heavy. He vowed never to buy them again. The weight really does affect the handling and overall feel of the car. I suggest finding someone close that has them and take a test drive.

LM reps. Pretty good knockoff,closest Ive seen. nice looking wheel..

weight from manufactures site=~ 24 lbs front & ~ 27.5 rear

So I'm saying true weight is probably 25+front 28+rear as they always seem to "lie" to us a little.

Good looking wheel though. Your going with the 19's right because thats what the weight is for as Im sure the 18's are lighter

There are only a few wheel styles I really like. The LM and the CSL being among my top choices. An upcoming wedding dictated replicas vs the real deal. Linea Corse seemed to be the best quality LM reps around. Didn't like what I heard about VMRs.

Yes, I'm going with the 19s. Pretty aggressive offset, especially in the front. 19x8.5 et30. I heard conflicting reports on whether they would rub or not. The vendor reassured me that they had sold many rims this size to Z4m owners in the past with no complaints. I went with a 235/35 tire up front to minimize any rubbing that may happen. We'll see how it turns out.

why not go for a used set of oem zcps?? they are not much more expensive than replicas.

what's the difference between the ZCP and CSL wheels? they look the same to me!

ZCP is the code for the US domestic market while the CSL is a model that never made it here. They're the same items though.

They're almost the same.
CSL wheels are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5
ZCP are for the competition package (kind of a partial CSL), and are 19x8 and 19x9.5

I think the CSLs are forged too. ZCPs are spun cast. I may be wrong.

Both the CSL's and ZCP's are spun cast. BMW made a mistake claming the CSL's were forged, but it's since then been cleared up that they're not.

Sorry if this has been answered earlier:

Im also looking at VMR VB3s. Will rear 19x10 et25 fit on my Z4MC without any use of spacers? What sized tires should I run if I want to avoid any sort of rubbing? Im a little worried about the wheels sticking out beyond the fenders. Mine is on stock suspension but Im also considering getting KW V3s, I remember reading post of wheels rubbing against the strut housing of KWs. Many thanks!

i've got 18x9.5 with 275/40 on the rear and it's pretty much flush. SUPER aggressive. IDK about the 19s with the extra half inch. what's your reason for going 10 in the rear?

Im able to get a set in that size only for a pretty good bargain but needed to make sure it fits. If yours are flush then i think the 10s will stick out... What are your offsets?

Off-topic, but would a non-m coupe be able to run a square setup using the ZCP wheels at 8" width, so all 4's runnin 19x8? I looked up the offset and it seems pretty conservative at 47mm (the rears of 9.5" are too aggressive - 27mm)?

on 2nd thought nevermind, it would work but the rears would be way too tucked in.

search e46, you will find pics of non m's running squared 19x8 with and without spacers in the back

search for a good deal on a set of nice used wheels on places such as E46 fanatics. Once and awhile you'll find a great deal on good wheels that are also light/strong.
