Retro fit multi function steering wheel - cable H wire harness

I have a Z4 Prod. Date 2003-03-25 3.0i manual, which did not come with the multi function steering wheel.
I would like to fit the multi function wheel.... and see threads that discuss it.
I seems that there were two BMW kits to do this - 1) one for all Z4's and 2) one cars before 09/03 only
The difference I can see is kit 2) includes a Part H wire harness 2 clips of the installation manual 09/03 attached.
Will a multi function wheel connect straight in for my car without H wire harness?
Is H wire harness the wire for Lighting the function buttons only?
If I buy a Multi function wheel from a Z4 - will I still need the cable H wire harness to make it work?
If I can get a H wire harness wire from a seller of a multi function wheel, what do I ask them for?

I did the retrofit on my previous Z (also a 2003) many years ago and can confirm that it wasn't plug and play in my case (needed the H wire). Fortunately it was easy to connect. IIRC there is a guide with step by step photos somewhere. My build date was 12/2002 btw.

It's been a while so I went through my old files and seems like I followed this: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108233

(see last post in the thread). From my order record, I got all the parts in that doc except for C, D, E, F, and G that came with the wheel. I remember on or two of the wires also came with the wheel but can't figure out which ones now (it's been almost 10 years!).

Thanks for the info

For future reference attached is a pic of the retro kit with Cable H in the top right corner curled in a circle, it also needs two Scotchlok™ type connectors to attach to plug X12 (light switch centre)PIN 21 PIN 27
the other two cables I believe should be in a standard multifunction wheel
