Retro fit multi function steering wheel - cable H wire harness
I have a Z4 Prod. Date 2003-03-25 3.0i manual, which did not come with the multi function steering wheel.
I would like to fit the multi function wheel.... and see threads that discuss it. I seems that there were two BMW kits to do this - 1) one for all Z4's and 2) one cars before 09/03 only The difference I can see is kit 2) includes a Part H wire harness 2 clips of the installation manual 09/03 attached. Will a multi function wheel connect straight in for my car without H wire harness? Is H wire harness the wire for Lighting the function buttons only? If I buy a Multi function wheel from a Z4 - will I still need the cable H wire harness to make it work? If I can get a H wire harness wire from a seller of a multi function wheel, what do I ask them for? |

I did the retrofit on my previous Z (also a 2003) many years ago and can confirm that it wasn't plug and play in my case (needed the H wire). Fortunately it was easy to connect. IIRC there is a guide with step by step photos somewhere. My build date was 12/2002 btw.

It's been a while so I went through my old files and seems like I followed this: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108233
(see last post in the thread). From my order record, I got all the parts in that doc except for C, D, E, F, and G that came with the wheel. I remember on or two of the wires also came with the wheel but can't figure out which ones now (it's been almost 10 years!). |

For future reference attached is a pic of the retro kit with Cable H in the top right corner curled in a circle, it also needs two Scotchlok™ type connectors to attach to plug X12 (light switch centre)PIN 21 PIN 27 the other two cables I believe should be in a standard multifunction wheel |
