What occurs at Service Inspection II and Tom Williams BMW reviews?

My car is ticking down to an inspection (due in 125 miles). I have 39,000 miles on the 2008 Z4C SI.

What occurs at this inspection?

What is the average cost?

Anyone with a reveiw of Tom Williams BMW in Birmingham, AL?

What else do I need to know?

Thanks,
AA6

Are you still under warranty? If not I suggest you search out a good independent shop as it will likely be a lot more cost effective.

I wouldn't go near a stealership - good reputation or not - after the free 4/50 maintenance is up. You'll easily pay HUNDREDS more for an Inspection I or II vs a good indy shop. I'm pretty sure my dealership gave my car a wall job at Inspection I, almost certainly skipping the valve adjustment. Find the best local indy guy and begin a long-term relationship.

I live 7 miles from Tom Williams BMW and took my MCoupe there one time for an airbag light - turns out the battery cable needed to be replaced. No problem, a little overpriced, but I don't have access to a scanner to reset the airbag light so I tell them to go ahead and fix it.

I pick up the car that afternoon and drive it home. I notice a clunk going around turns, coming from the hatch. I check it out when I get home and find that the battery is not bolted down, the vent hose is not attached to the battery and the cover is just laying in the back. So that is what I got for $510 - a $130 battery cable and I got to put the car back together again.

I called the service advisor, Mario, twice and left messages expressing my displeasure and never received a call back.

My boss bought an X5 there 7 months ago and told me that the 3 times he has been there for service he has never dealt with the same service advisor twice. Very high turnover, apparently.

I will never go there again......there are others in town that can work on my car. My .02 - worth what you paid for it.

The service writer thought the car was a Z3.

My litmus test for this type of service is to take out the air cleaner and see if the container was cleaned: It wasn't (at least not fully). Get a vacuum and suck out the dust or get a damp rag. Lazy.

The brake inspection: When I picked up the car, I had to ask for feedback on the brakes (should be given on a print out). Service writer states: They're good!

I want a measurement how much pad is there and to what degree my rotors are warped.

I had headlights out and they are replaced now.

I hate having to go through a service writer and not getting to talk with the tech.

We still really like the car. My daughter is now in her school's drivers ed class. She gets her license in May. She'll do limited solo driving then.
