That matt film give the imola an interesting perspective. Best color, although I might be biased.

Welcome to the fold.

What kind of brembo kit is that? Doesn't look like a floating rotor or a BBK rotor. Almost looks like the oem rotors with a caliper swap

Yep, if I had to guess I'd say they're the Porsche 996 calipers all the way around with Rally Road brackets and lines. The E46 M3 guys go this way, and I think I will eventually on my car. It's a fantastic upgrade for the price.

Probably. 4 pot brakes make such a difference in braking modulation and feel. It's a pretty big weak point (stock) on what's a great driver's car. Going from the on/off stock system is a huge improvement.

The more I see this color permutation the more I like it.

Great Glavin's Ghost.
At $3600 per axle, I should hope there's such a difference in braking modulation and feel.
Oh, wait, they're having a 4% off sale.

Nice car! Nice brakes!

imo, the 3 things that completely transform a car and make it much more fun to drive are

1)exhaust
2)suspension
3)bbk

That's OIL temp, not the flashy orange lights on the tachometer.
Like you said, let's not over-do the rod bearing situation. I see plenty of 100k+ S54 cars that are just fine and do not have rod bearing issues. People on this forum tend to push their cars harder - if you drive normally and don't beat the crap out of the car, the rod bearings will be fine. I agree on doing an oil analysis at some point.

Ugh.

Looks like it's time. DIY? (Not joking, you seem pretty handy with a wrench.)

Handy with a wrench, but limited to jackstands.
I think this is lift work.
I would get an electric one, but I have bedrooms above the garage and subsequently a whopping beam across the center of the garage ceiling about 7' off the floor.

Probably have to take it to EAS or Lang.

Dang. I had the same issue in our old house with that beam. No longer an issue since my friends and I share a "barn" and lift. The main cost was labor in cleaning the place out which was stacked practically to the top of the lift with junk.

If you lived closer I'd lend you one for the price of watching and learning!

Apologies to the OP for going so far off-topic!

Doesn't seem that bad, iron and copper are the same. Maybe something got in the fuel.

Are those the original bearings with 121k miles on them?

Yep.
I'm hoping it's something that washed out of the rebuilt Vanos I just installed.
