Side question - mine gets stuck in the closed position frequently. I am still under factory warranty (until fall) and got it replaced. It still gets stuck. Sometimes it magically pops open when I open or close the door (dont' know which). Any pointers?

This comes up regularly ...
The stock cupholders are not a great design. Mine work perfectly, but stay parked in the retracted position. Even if the retraction mechanism and ratcheting clamp worked well (which does not seem to be the case), having a full cup of 'whatever' (cold or hot) balanced tenuously that high over both my lap and some very expensive electronics is not something I want to risk - especially in a car that can change directions as readily as this one. I have the Ultimate cupholders on both sides - a nicely finished stainless and black felt product at a reasonable price that keep the beverages low, easily accessible, and well secured. And though mostly out of sight, they look like they belong in the car - not something from the Walmart auto accessory shelf. |
