0-60 mph 5.3??!!
My ride is bone stock and the engine is tuned up and purrrrring, according to the android App (Torque..get it, its awesome!!) i'm putting about 190hp to the wheels. I know their are MANY variables, but that seems to be the average. The factory says 225 at the flywheel so with about a 15% loss.. 190hp isn't that far off base.
No for my question... Where is this elusive 5.3 second 0-60? The best i have ever seen measured on Torque or the old fashioned way (stopwatch) is 6.2. I got walked by a Crossfire SRT-6 not to long ago, Granted i didn't have DSC off so when i shifted from 1st to 2nd the stupid DSC kicked in. Regardless, I need to know if its me or the car.. has anyone else seen the blazing 5.3sec 0-60? |

I'm not sure where the 5.3 second 0-60 went, but the Crossfire SRT-6 is built by Mecedes Benz and has a 3.2 Liter Supercharged V6 at 330 hp which they rate at 0-60 4.8 sec. So maybe it just felt slow.

It's really hard to do a perfect 0-60 launch. It took many launches to get to 5 seconds in my M. I remember my first one was over 6 seconds and I was confused since I thought it was a pretty good launch. Takes practice.

5.3 sounds like the quoted number for the 255hp 3.0si...

Not sure if that link works...scroll on down to the Z4. I know that a lot of times, mags will make several runs, different directions, different times of the day, and then average them. I'm no Michael Schumacher, or I guess Roy Hill in this case... But I have lots of seat time, and am not some 16yr old dumpling the clutch on his moms Honda...(no offense 16yr olds, we were all that kid)...however the best real world time I've seen is 6.2. |

I actually had the opportunity to race an SRT6 Crossfire one day and it was a very close race. We were essentially neck and neck and I started to pull on him in the top end some.

Um, whilst I have no real world times, a quick google search indicates that the m roaddie is just as fast as the m coupe... So I'm not sure why the Srt-6 would whip one and not the other. Could you explain?

Dude, I drank the KoolAid and got torque. What dongle are you using for your OBDll bluetooth connectivity?
This app is crazy!

those numbers are from various sources tested under varied conditions, thats why there's no consistency
but anyway, bench racing is pointless. Your car is only as quick as you drive it

As well, there was a big article on how people tested the 0-60 times...some magazines tested the 0-60 from an actual 1mph roll...while other actually launched it. I know the best I got was 5.0...but others have been able to get 4.8. Alot of variables are in effect. I bet if I threw slicks on the car I'd get that 4.8 easily. |

I just put down some runs... Nice flat road, dry surface, 50f on the air temp. For 5 passes the best i saw was 6.0 the worst 6.8. I'd say that's as good as i'm gonna get. Torque would never give the same HP twice...lol... between 160 and 201.. that translates to between 185 and 231 at the flywheel... I'd like to think i'm getting closer to 231...LOL
The moral of this post is to figure out if my engine is producing the power it should be, or should i start digging around for parts to replace. The engine only has 40k miles on it... Sooooo I guess if i am getting 6.0 to 60mph then there is no reason to think that my engine is not preforming at its best... right? |
