DIY Painted Front Reflectors and Scratch Wizard Paint review

So, I ended up ordering a replacement set of front reflectors, decided to paint them myself.

After searching online for a company to order the paint from, I settled on a kit from Scratch Wizard. The kit I ordered was for paint code A08, and contained the following for around $45:

- rattle can of primer
- rattle can of paint
- rattle can of clear coat
- 2 sheets of 600 sand paper
- 4 sheets of 220 sand paper
- degreasing compound
- scratch filling putty

I used the 220 sand paper to sand down the raised DOT lettering/text on the reflectors, then applied 2 light coats of primer, followed by 3 coats of paint, then 2 heavy coats of clear.

In the end, I was extremely pleased with the quality of the paint, as well as how well the paint matched the target color. Below is a photo showing the two new reflectors in comparison to the old painted reflector that was removed after being damaged.

I would highly recommend the company and kit I used to anyone considering doing this themselves. The price was reasonable, especially considering everything in the kit and the quality.

I'll post an updated photo after I install the reflectors later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for the review, and the car looks fantastic in your signature picture. I had to look up some bigger pictures of it, looks great. You've done well on the build.

Would you recommend these paints for larger areas? Were you using "Scratchwizard.net" or "Scratchwizard.ca". I want to ditch my towhook style plate mount on the front and install the oem piece I bought but I'm nervous about painting it with some crappy quality material and having it look janky.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. It took a while, but it's finally getting it were I want it, both looks and performance.

It's definitely high quality paint that you get from them, but, as with all premixed paints, there is always a chance that the color wouldn't be an exact match. Taking a sample to a local paint shop and having a custom matched rattle can made would be the only way to be absolutely sure. I was happy with what I got, though.

I ordered from the .net address.
