New Wheel suggestions?

Hey everyone,

So I'm forced into the market to look for new wheels. I had the Avant Garde’s 18's but on Saturday, I hit a huge pothole in the middle lane on Grand Central, NY (be careful anyone near Astoria) and damaged both wheels on the right side--tires are fine.

Deciding if I should just purchase the 2 wheels or grab a new set? The price for two wheels was roughly 500-600 vs everything new and shipped for 900--which is my set budget, since this was an unexpected incident...

Thoughts?

Really thinking of grabbing a Matte black Avant Garde’s or even 18in BBS reps, but don't know if they would be possible in my budget and do they look good in that size? I've only seen 19's.

Thanks.

Amir

I'm running a set of 18" Sportline CSL reps and they're proven plenty tough for me. Last fall I hit a pothole on the right side that was bad enough to bubble my front tire but the rim wasn't damaged. They're lightweight and priced well.

I agree, I'm running 19" Sportline CS 16 wheels all season in horrible Jersey roads and they held up very well, still look new..highly recommended

Tires are probably not fine. Trust me.

Any impact strong enough to damage wheels will likely damage the steel belts in the sealing beads, or damage the sidewall internally. I'd ditch the tires too even if it still looks okay.

sucky part is...I was on my home from being let go from my job--they shut down our art department. So If can hold off on spending cash on tires...I'm praying the wheel repair shop is right..lol

When it rains it pours...

Aside from that--I just googled 18" Sportline CSL reps---any recommended online dealer?

That does suck big time. My fingers are crossed that this is a very short term situation for you!

I was thinking the same thing. It's a ticking time bomb. Just hope they don't go at speed. I'd replace just to be safe.

Sorry to hear about your job. That really does suck. Good luck!

Can you not have the wheels repaired? That would probably be a lot less than buying replacements.

First plan was to have them repaired--shop said $150 a tire. But once they took them off, they called me in and said it couldn't be repaired and showed me the inside damage--said its really weakened and could be dangerous.

So I left the car with them and told them I'll ship the wheels over to their shop. They didn't charge me for looking into it--thank god.

Two options I'm considering from Modbargins.

Thoughts? Wondering how the black and silver will look--google images look good.

I was going though the same process, between the VMR 710s and Avant Garde, after some research I found out that the Sportline wheels where a much better built wheel for the money...I am very satisfied with my purchase..

Also the VMR 710s where back ordered for over a month..

I went with 18x8 +35 with 245/40 and 18x9 +40 with 265/35
Still could use 6mm spacer up front and 10m in the rear to flush them out
