Tyre pressures
Hi
Wanted to know what tyre pressures people run? Recently changed my run flats to Goodyear F1's and the pressure panel on the drivers door leaves me feeling like the tyre's pressure is too high and I have little traction! Any suggestions? Thanks |

Wait, do you think the tire pressure is too high because you're not feeling a comfortable ride quality? Or is it the lack of traction that leads you to think the tire pressure is too high?
New tires take a few hundred miles to break in and traction should improve gradually. Tires typically achieve max traction when they're about 50% worn. As for ride comfort, try lowering to 32lbs front and 32lbs rear. But that's about as low as I'd go. When you go into the high 20's you're at a much greater chance of blowing out the tires. Not to mention the uneven tread wear.

I have the OEM runflats and run them at 35 front, 37 rear.
I drove the car for three weeks at 30 all around. I *think* the ride is better at 35/37! Is it possible that at 30psi, the tyres ride more on the stiff portion of the sidewall, causing a harsher ride? It almost seems as though the extra pressure has given the tyres more "give", resulting in a better ride. Could be wrong though - need to drop them again to see if anything changes.
