Car Won't Stop Beeping Even with Ignition Off Key Out

Noticed in past few weeks that my car won't stop beeping, this happens despite ignition off, key out, doors closed. Even after I exit the car and close my doors I can hear the beeping continue. It eventually stops....

Doing a search showed a TIS fix but this was for older model Z4's and the fix required replacing the entire gauge. Does anyone with a newer (06+) have this issue? Also does anyone know which fuse is for the EWS or ignition?

Saw your post in another thread saying the car won't lock with the fob.
Sounds like the ignition switch thinks your key is still in and doesn't want you to lock your keys in the car.
I would check the contact block on the ignition switch.
Should be able to find a schematic here and Ohm it out:

I haven't experienced the beeping, but I've had the instrument cluster lights remain lit after I turn the car off and remove the key. I have to reinsert the key, turn one click (Acc position) and then turn the key back to 'Off'. As above, I also suspect it's something within the ignition switch

Been busy but after reading up more, I believe the ignition switch is the culprit. It seems like a fairy common "issue."

I forgot to mention also how recently I've noticed longer cranks upon inital startup. I though that was a separate issue but after reading other threads, I think it may be related. So just to recap, symptoms include:

1) ignition chime continues upon removal of key and doors closed
2) key fob remote won't lock/unlock, must lock/unlock manually
3) longer cranks on cold starts

Will report back in a few days.

This could fix your problem.

Have you tried a power reset? Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect and see if issue is still there.

According to the schematic in the attachment, that's not the case.
Haven't figured out how it knows that the key is in.

Finally replaced the ignition switch, so far so good. No beeping for now...
