Save me from myself!

I drove by the local BMW dealer last night and they have a 2006 ZM4 Blue with 8,200 miles. I just purchased a 2007 Z4 3.0i in March. I really don't want nor do I need any more power, I just like the idea of the M. I am really hoping it sells very quickly and it stops tempting me.

Don't go test drive, don't go test drive...

Life is short. If you can afford it, you should. Nothing finer than an ///M.

Talk them down to $29500 and get it. It only has 8500 miles AND extended leather. No nav but that's NBD IMHO.Has a couple of minor paint scratches on the passenger side. Check that it's CPO. I don't think it is. Find out why it isnt CPo'd first. Then buy it

The only downside is it's a 2006 vs your 2007. Other than that all upside. My insurance actually went down from my 2.5 to the M.

Did you honestly think anyone here would tell you not to take a look at that car?

Take it for a spin before it sells and you regret it!

(and there's nuttin' wrong wit a 2006!!!)

Sort of right there with you, although I'd love more power. And better handling. And a nicer steering wheel. My 3.0si is fun, but an ///M is in my future. I'm hoping to find a nice, off-lease 2008 in a year.

I'm trading in my 07 Z4 coupe and picking up an 07 M coupe this afternoon. If I had actually test driven an M 2.5 years ago when I bought my car, there's no way I would have settled for the 3.0si. Live and learn I guess!

Also, extended leather is nice. It wasn't a priority when I started looking, but the car I'm picking up has it and it really classes up the interior.

I do. It's not always about the power. When I was upgrading from my old 2.5i, I went with the M mostly because I knew I'd be keeping the car a good long while, so why not get the top model? When you're thinking long term, like 10 years or more, the difference in price doesn't seem as huge.

Which leads to my advice to the OP: if you love the Z4 platform and think you'll keep the car long after the sting of the expense, go for it. If it's just a passing fancy and you already have an idea of some other cars you'd like to try, don't bother with the M.

So, is it a keeper?

I guess I just don't understand trading in for a Z4M just for the M batch, and not for the added power and improved handling

Both don't really impact most people in day-to-day driving. The difference I like most? The hydraulic steering. That, I enjoy every day, much more often than I bump the 8k redline or use all 330hp.

Hate to thread jack, but congrats dekaliber. You won't be disappointed

To the Op. I shopped 3.0si coupes before purchasing my M. For several months, I thought the 3.0si was the best balance of value and performance for me....then I drove the M. Nuff said. Don't drive it if you're not ready to make a change. Good luck!

Huh -- just talked to my insurance (State Farm) to change the car and they indicated that my premium actually goes up an extra ~$240/year.

(Not like it's a dealbreaker by any means)

I had state farm and they can be pricey. Went to Geico after being loyal state farm for years. Getting Full coverage with $500 collision,$100 comp, towing and 300/300 liability on the beemer plus a 1988 toyota camry with towing and $100 comp for $78/month. State farm wanted $135 for the same thing.
