thats what I do. The bay by my house is awesome I can swipe my cc even just for a minute perfect for initial soak and rinsing. So I rinse and usually do 2 washes with my hot water and soap buckets that i bring.

Ditto.
Also, I buy cheap $2.00 wash mitts at the local dollar store and use them for one wash only and throw them out when I am done. That way, there's no worry of residue from a previous wash being in the mitt and scratching the paint.

If I'm back at home I usually do the 2 bucket method every 2 weeks or so and use the car cover. If I'm at school, I take it to a coin wash once a week (using my own towels, and washcloths) and then keep it in my garage. She's never dirty! At least until the rainy season comes...
The amount of bug splats I get on this car is annoying though.

Just started the two bucket method. Wish I'd started doing that long ago. During the winter I take it every 3-4 weeks to a hand wash place and then to a coin op to get the salt off in between.

The Z4 gets washed by hand in the driveway. The X5 goes through the car wash every now and then and occasionally gets a hand washing. There's a place near the office that does a super nice (near detail quality) exterior and interior wash for $25. Can't beat it. The X5 comes out looking awesome inside and out.

my regimen:
-rinse car with water. -use the pre-soak soap by section ie roof and hatch first-then wash. repeat for other panels -soap and use microfiber rags (two to three rags)to clean -rinse. -dry with wave/microfiber -either spray wax or paste. just depends. -hit the trim with back to black if needed -windows |

Rinse, Poop Off soak for bugs (stuff is great as a spot remover on clothing too), foam gun, two bucket wash with small sections (rinse sponge), high pressure rinse, cascade from open hose rinse, microfiber dry.
I like Huz-Z's idea about single use wash mitts, as long as I can find soft ones that won't scratch. I'll have to check into that... |

I do an ultima waterless wash every week. Spray it on, wipe it off with a clean microfiber cloth. So far no swirling or any problems looks great.
If the car is really dirty then I'll do a two bucket wash using the BMW products. The top I only wash every 6 months, I use 303 and re-seal it by carefully masking off the windows with blue tape and butcher paper, pics here.

I only drive it at the end of the week/weekend right now, so I hand-wash in the driveway every Sunday before putting the cover on her for the week. I like to drive my MC more, but I don't have a garage, so the falling leaves would be driving me nuts and I'd be washing it every day. Ah, the disadvantages of small city homes.

I got thrown out of the local hand wash shop for asking the girl at the counter - "How much for a hand job?"
