Direzza ZIII - new for 2017
It looks like significant changes are coming for the ZII star specs.
The new tire will be the ZIII, due late February.
In the promo spin, They are claiming 1.5% improved lap times with little difference in tire wear. With a new Hankook RS4 also out, it looks like the Bridgestone RE71R has a target on it

LOL always seems to be that way.
I was planning on picking up RE71s as well.

I'm rowing the same boat. I think I can get my current RE71s through the autocross events and an April PDX on the Daytona DE course, but they certainly wont get through tech for the full IMSA course PDX in May. If there aren't any reviews by then, I may put on a set of Nexen NFERA SUR4's as an interim solution. They're not at the same grip level as the RE71s, but they're about half the price and still a decent performer (so long as the tread doesn't separate).

I'm excited to see the possible selection for good race tires increasing. I used the RE-71's a couple years back and loved them. The wear was expected when considering the grip.
My first set of serious tires waaaay back was the Direzza's and damn where they good. Great rain performance, so when in the wet a top 5 was almost a lock at my local auto-x way back when. I can't wait to see what Dunlop comes up with in the ZIII.
