Accord 2.0T quicker than Civic Type R which has a more powerful engine

So the accord with the detuned engine will beat the type r to 60 thanks to 10 speed auto. For a performance car the type r is really slow to 60 lol taking 5.8 seconds. It may make up for it in the corners or after 60 but that is too slow IMO.

Can't believe the Acura tlx a spec AWD is slower than the accord. Costs as much as a 340i without x drive but does 0-60 in 6 seconds. The Japanese can't seem to get AWD correct as the AWD cars are always slower than 2wd. The accord is the most ugly in years contributing to lack luster sales. Looks like a station wagon from the 80s. Maybe these cars do better in the figure 8 but I don't know how you can make up for slower than full size pickup straight line acceleration.

Reading online it seems the accord sales are falling simply because Toyota is using larger incentives to create lower monthly payments - something Honda is not willing to do.

They really messed up the aesthetics of this car imo, its a total mess

And $36,675 for the top of the line version? That's only a few thousand less than I paid for mine, absolutely crazy.

Except 5.8 is the official Honda time. Real world data has it around 5 flat, and the quarter about 8/10ths faster than the recorded times for the Accord.
https://www.caranddriver.com/honda/civic-type-r

But we are certainly getting to the point where automatics put significant distance on similar manuals, and get noticeably better mileage too. Doesn't mean I'll ever buy one. Manuals are becoming a sizable compromise from a numbers standpoint.

Accord 2.0T quicker than Civic Type R with more powerful engine

I think I'm gonna buy an accord because the people at motor trend can't drive.

unless something is wrong with that civic, the accord will absolutely get behind in the first 60 feet, at 60 miles an hour, and at the quarter-mile.

It's the same motor just detuned for the Accord. Tune the Accord & you can probably beat the Civic anyway...

Isn't this true of any turbocharged car? Of course using C&D's numbers for both the Civic R and the Accord auto, there's a 0.8 second difference in the 1/4, which isn't going to be possible to make up with a tune alone.

C&D has the type r as a mid 13 second car, isn't it's appeal that its supposed to be fast?

Has there ever been a faster fwd car? I'm not really a fan of the styling or size of the car, but it's N'Ring time and overall stats seem to fit its price and target audience just fine.

I don't think 16 year old kids can afford it, though.

Haha, that does seem to be the way it happened. Honda and Acura are so lost stylistically.

I do like the look of the new TLX A-Spec. Until you get behind the wheel and it feels like you are driving a bowl of soup.
