LS2 Z4 Build- Diff Question

Has any one got an idea on how strong the diff in the 3.0 E86 is, is LSD 4.11
Looking at all options for this build , fabrication is not a problem but less is better

The e86 3.0si hasn't got an LSD stock. It's an open diff and the ratio is 1:3.46 (manual) or 1:3.64 (auto)

If it isn't a stock diff, and you dont tell the maufacturer and type, how can we possibly say how strong the diff is?

I know about quaife.......
I quote from quaife:
Quote:
The QUAIFE differential is engineered to take jus.t about as much horsepower as you can throw at it. In almost any given transmission or rear axle, the QUAIFE ATB Differential will not be the limiting factor. If you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to contact us.
So it's probably no issue. Their gearboxes can handle up to 750hp. Their diffs probably a lot more as the helical gears have a massive surface contact (especially compared to the stock 2-planetary gear open diff).

Your unknown gearset can handle unknown HP

A 188mm quaife can handle a lot more than 400hp mate.....
Lots and lots of examples of guys driving around with quaifes and (a lot) more than 400hp.

So I don't know where you got your information from, but real life examples prove that it's not correct.

Quaife is not 188mm that is the ring size, this is the part that fails(most of the time ) I rang and spoke to 2 BMW Motorsport companies both of whom said the 188mm would not be sufficient for 500rwhp.
Both recommended swapping it for the E46 M3 lsd.
no point in cutting corners for a couple of grand

There's another fellow here doing a LS swap too, you should reach out to him because he's gotten petty far in his build. His name is v8z4 though he's more active on Bimmeforums.

Thanks I might see how he is going because the amount of fabrication to fit it in with the right weight balance is a huge job. For anyone chasing diff gears I just sourced 4.1 ratio gear set from Bobby Rahal for $800+shipping best price I have seen anywhere, speak to David.
