Official Magnaflow thread

Lots of interest with the Magnaflows so I figure why not create a thread for them. I've put together a few pictures, audio clips, and where to get them.

I am using Magnaflow 11366 mufflers - http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflow-1136.../dp/B000XQO0WU

Not sure about the tips other than they are slash cut, are dipped in chrome, and look badass. Have close to 8k miles on mine now and I am happy with the looks, the sound, and the performance.

Sounds great! Thanks for putting those clips together. I've been thinking of doing the same thing with the Borla Turbo universal mufflers, a friend of mine did that on his BMW and it sounded great!

how loud is this exhaust system?
the sound seems a little bit muffled and honed down.

All I did was replace the stock mufflers with Magnaflow mufflers. Everything else is stock. This is a great setup for someone who wants a little more noise but not enough to wake up the entire neighborhood when you are coming home late at night.

Which engine was this with? Any other details you can offer?

For the Magnaflows, I may have missed it here or elsewhere, but any measurement of DB at idle, cruising or WOT? Dorifto has a Magnaflow setup, single tip, sounds really good too! Not too loud for my taste--seemed quieter than the RPIs. But he did say there was a lot of drone, and at cruising RPM range too (IIRC, I was not fully awake ). That's the only downside I can think of with this if that's the case--the price, look, and sound otherwise seen great.

yessss i do have magnaflows !

since the meet a few weeks ago, i added some inserts so the in cabin sound has decreased slightly, along with overall sound (at least, thats what im telling myself after spending a hundred dollars on the inserts lol)

if anyone in sacramento wants to hear, give me a holler.

Finnegan, it was on an E46 M3, couple years back and I'm not in touch with him anymore but it was a sweet setup. He had one of those anti rasp pipes and that custom borla setup and it was civilized when you were just cruising, and just enough aggressive sound when you went WOT.

I'll probably do it around February/March of next year, and will be sure to post up clips when I do!

Was the MagnaFlow welded to the existing clamps or did they make clamps to mate up with OEM?

How did you mount these to the existing hangers?

He attached new clamps onto the magnaflows. Not much room to play with but he was able to do it. Regarding hangers, he welded some thin steel rods to the mufflers to attach to the hangers.

If you can get some pictures of this clamp...that would be helpful. I just need to get everything covered so I can show a muffler shop this and they can exactly replicate it. Looks like your muffler shop got it right

I'll do this for you tomorrow (have the day off from work )

And yes, the muffler man who did this for me did an excellent job.

Hey tekmoe, I noticed you used cans that have a 2.5" inlet and outlet, and some other people that have done this conversion use a 2.25" inlet and outlet. Do you know what the diameter of the OEM X pipe is? I want to make sure I keep the diameters the same throughout the system.

Im another satisfied Magnaflow Z4M driver. I have the same setup as above. With what I believe are the same tips (C5 Vette) I bought the setup as a kit in the winter on here from someone who went a different direction. I believe I paid about 225 for the Mufflers and tips, and about 300 for installation.

The sound is "like stock but louder" I love it. there is very little drone around 1800-2000 rpms. I think it makes the car sound like it should, but not be obnoxious. Next I need some headers and a tune....

Same set up here except for the tips. The car was a bit louder /bassier with Magnaflow

Once I installed my euro headers, I hear a bit of raps after 5k. Hit the sport button and the car sounds Beefier, louder and addicting with a touch or rasp at 4k rpm and above... not too loud but enough for the streets.

You will hear some drone around 2k... so if you cruse around in 6th gear and your rpms hang around 2k... then you probably drive slow.

PS, click on my name and check my album pic if you want to see the exhaust tips.

Laterz!

My Magnaflows are officially for sale as I no longer own the Z4M. They were on my car for about 15k miles. The mufflers already have hangers attached and they bolt up to the existing mount points for the stock exhaust. Simple swap. I obviously cannot guarantee precise fitment since these were hand built for my car specifically, however, they should work on pretty much any Z4M without any problems. Both mufflers and tips are in good condition, will post updated pics soon.

Asking $550 shipped.

How much did it actually cost to build and install?
