MPG on your Z4 M?

I didn't buy this car for superior gas mileage, but I am getting surprisingly low MPG (actual). I've only had a couple fill ups but I'm averaging 16MPG. I will admit that I haven't driven it like a grandma, but I have been driving quite "normal" with limited "spirited" moments.

What is your average MPG for your Z4 M?

That's pretty typical. I get 18 mixed city street when not grandma'ing. 22-23 road trip going 65-70.

5-6 MPG at track!

I keep track of my gas mileage with every fill up. 80% freeway I average around 21MPG. Spirited drives around 17 MPG. One tank full for track with 4 20 minute sessions.

Thanks. At least I know it's normal for the type of driving/traffic I deal with!

Is anyone else on Fuelly?

I used to average 17 on my Roadster, and so far that appears to be about what I'm getting on the Coupe as well.

I average about 24-25 on my daily commute.. Probably about 80% highway, 20% city based on time, 42 miles one way.. That's according to the MPG calculator, and every time I checked actual the MPG calculator is very accurate.

Like everyone else, really depends on how you drive it. I was on Alligator Alley last Monday and I swear, I could see that gas needle moving. Of course I was booking along at 135 so that wasn't helping. But for the most part 19-20 is what I get on average.

Garage List
I've kept an Excel spreadsheet of my MPG since buying my Z4 M Roadster last July. While this car is my daily driver, I'm retired, so most driving is local errands including freeway driving, and occasional autocrosses and canyon carving in the local mountains.

The best MPG was 20.1 which included four straight days of 44 mile round-trip freeway driving a couple of weeks ago. The worst MPG was 12.5 which included a 2-day autocross where the start and finish were linked together on the second day to do continuous 4-lap runs.

MPG was lower when I first got the car, about 13-14 MPG but has trended up to the current overall cumulative MPG of 16.1, although it trended down for a few weeks shortly after installing the Stromung exhaust.

16.9 mpg, with about 90% of that city driving. Usually around 200 miles per tank.

Just filled up a couple days ago and the shits already half empty

I picked up my car about 2 months ago. Im averaging ~20mpg. I'm a little disappointed actually. My 1999 MCoupe I averaged about 21-22mpg. I was hoping to gain a little more MPG since the z4m coupes are 6 speeds.

wow i guess 77 is the magic #.

yeah the z3 mcoupe is lighter by about 100lbs. I was hoping that an extra gear and 5 years worth of technology (s52 being from 96 and s54 from 01) would have improved MPG.

I was just expecting more especially from a highway drive where in the z3 80mph was like 3400 rpm and in the z4 80mph is like 3100

I found ~70 mph on long trip is best for mpg.

I would expect better gas mileage with 6 speed.
