New Daily Driver - Chevy Volt

I decided to change my daily driver to a Chevy. My weekend car remains an e85!

Not the most practical and depending on one's life situation he or she may need a back row and but afford to have more than 1 car. On a more non-practical side, some of us love our car too much to put the wear/tear on it.

Surprised no one has mentioned the 'commuting with a manual transmission' issue; doing 15 hours a week in stop'n'go traffic makes an automatic trans a necessity IMHO

My Z gets weekends & after work blasts. DD is a modded '08 Golf ( "All you could ever need or require" -TopGear) with GTI springs, anti-sways and brakes, but tiptronic trans. Found it on a lease return for $8K.

2.5 is a solid motor. Always thought all the golf needed was a mild drop and it'd be a great commuter. If I could only find a mkvi tdi for a reasonable price, I'd trade my G35x for it and get snows for the winter.

Z4

Recently pruchased a 2006 Z4 with 25,000 miles. I dive it on weekends and to work during good Spring and Summer weather in Seattle. Starting November I will park it in my shop for the Winter. I have three other cars I can drive during the wet and ice season.

Love the car lots of fun to drive

Same here. '11 TDI for commute and as the workhorse (plus 36 MPG combined and 44+ highway is nice for what is boring driving anway).

Hmmm. You retrofitted GTI brakes? My only complaint on the Golf TDI are the brakes, otherwise it's a great DD, and good trainer (momentum not power in corners). I guess I need to look into a retrofit.

I work remotely so I consider all my cars "fun only" cars. I'm trying to get down to just the M coupe and the 330i ZHP, though.

I use the Z4 for around town errands, grocery store around the corner and stuff. Also use it when it's raining or had previously rained. For highway commutes to college twice a week I take the Porsche, as well as on clear sky weekend days

Have a 2006 4Runner Limited I just purchased for DD duty, drive the Z4 on the weekends and maybe to work if it's just me and little cargo.

Love the Z4, have an issue with two car payments but very happy with both.

I suppose those in colder climates are beginning to put their coupe or roadster away for the winter. I'm lucky to be in more temperate climates where the top still remains down at least during the day :-)

I have the option to ride my sport bike to work pretty much every day... but I can't get enough vitamin Z4M.

I also drive back home during lunch with the top down, I eat lunch - take a 15 min nap and drive back while tanning.... aaahhh God is good.

It's going to be in the 50's in the Twin Cities (MN) this weekend! Just when I think I need to put her to sleep for the winter, we get some more warm weather. Although I plan on driving it every so often until they throw salt on the roads. I took it to work the other day when it was 14 degrees (F) the other morning. But it's mostly a fun weekend/errand car for me.

Although I've been driving it a bunch since I picked it up, my daily is a 1988 535is with full Spax adjustable suspension,IE adjustable sways, BIG brakes, Michelin PSS and a LW flywheel. Or, if I have the dogs with me, a modded 98 Volvo V70R. The Roadster is for trips up the coast(Big Sur, Nor Cal coast) or for blasts on the back roads(Palm Desert, Palomar Mt., Borrego, Mesa Grande, etc...) Getting valves adjusted on Sat. then probably a little road trip! OH, and I work on a ship so no commuting!!!!
