I have the 2006 Z4 3.0si and is the shifter suppose to light up when I turn the lights on?????

Nope,
Only the ///M's do that

But the stock ///M shifter is like a broomstick so most buy a ZHP knob, But they don't light up,

Then I step in and modify them to light up and everybodys happy again
