No. It's the same as what you'd get with the 200 dollar disk or just the firmware update from BMW (about 8 bucks for firmware. (I have both, BMW and a disk from the link I posted earlier and both are the same).

I update from an old version to a new one and "hack" the update to put a new splash on.. when I hack another update (which is now the same version since I updated already) and I try to put a NEWER splash screen on, the update wont take effect... so I would need to "downgrade" to re upgrade is what it sounds like.

Not unless you roll into the dealer complaining your NAV doesn't work for whatever reason. Just pop in the original disc before any dealer visits if you're paranoid.

The unit is mounted in the trunk on the drivers side. I got my BT code by popping off the driver side subwoofer and looking back into the trunk where the label side of the module is facing forward. A number of posts show pictures. |

Sorry - Subwoofer cover. Plastic spatula!!! Shine a flashlight beteen the subwoofer frame and the edge of the enclosure. It helps to also pop off the vent looking piece on the side. The back of the TCU where the code is printed (PK in Ron's photo) http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...33&postcount=6 would be facing you. I used a wooden dowel to manuever the cable bundle away from the label to show the code. Other options are to remove the carpeting in the trunk and pull out the TCU module - pain in the rear - or have a dealer readout the code (for which they may or may not charge you). |

There is a file on the disc that stores the firmware file version. Changing that to any number other than the one you currently have installed will cause the update to kickoff. You can find more info about this at X outpost forums. It's not as straightforward as it sounds.
