rear spoiler
I keep seeing a rear spoiler for the MZ4 Coupe. Mostly I see it on ebay. it is not a very big one and in the description they say it is attached to the car with 3m tape. I was wondering if anyone has one of these or tried one?

It looks like a fake/knockoff of Tekarbon, which is $169.95 plus shipping. I would rather spend money on the real one (and not support counterfeit)

OEM kit comes with betalink adhesive but that stuff is messy to work with and its semi-permanent. You can use 3m type or a different adhesive. |

Actually my concern was if anyone has installed any of these spoilers and I wanted to know if they are happy with the spoiler. or are they junk. Is the OEM spoiler also attached with 3m tape as well?

OEM is made with pre-impregnated resin CF and a platinum silicon Caul plate insert that is removed in post. Read as VERY precise and light. The Tek unit appears to be wet lay-up and vac bagged and the sub floor secondarily bonded.Tek can inform me if I'm off here. I'm not trying to be the CF Interwebs official spokesperson. Its insignificant really as small as the part is and is only cosmetic. It receives no forces once installed and isn't affording any downforce due to its low profile size and position......in other words.....its not seeing any downdraft to make resistance. |

Answered this already, it comes with betalink glue but most people just go with a different glue or use 3m double sided tape (and yes it works just as well and is far less messy). The only thing with 3m is that you may see a sliver of the tape as it's thicker than the glue but only marginally.

Agreed. Even if it was of any significance, it's coming across turbulent air anyways.

IMO, with a rear spoiler you either go big or you do go at all. I vote for this one.
Anything as small as a "lip" spoiler that could provide significant enough downforce while driven mostly on the street would defy the laws of physics, IMO. Actually, I'd go ballah and put on the lip spoiler, and then the APR GT style wing on top for DOUBLE the downforce.

The S2K track guys seem to the front and rear wings, and I've kind of gotten used to them. Might look at bit overboard on the street, but definitely doesn't seem out of place at the, oh, how did you put it, "local house of worship for speed" (awesome phrase btw). |

The spoiler on top of a spoiler should have been a pretty good indication, or "spoiler."
The majority of the handling issue at speed on this chassis is front end. A splitter up front would do much more than a lip spoiler, IMO.

Too many uses of the word spoiler. How about splitter and wing, that way we know which part of the car it goes.
Now that I think if it, they are starting to put wings on the front too. I give up. |

That rear wing is the real thing. You would not own it for its LOOKS. It is most commonly used on bmw race cars and is suppose to amazing. I don't have experience with them.

^ Yup esp for our cars that are not that stable at really high speeds, anything that will help our cars be more stable is good. But still no way am I driving on public roads with that LOL

I think using the term "RICEY" is off beat since this design is used across the board so much. If ANYTHING...it would become Krauty, lol. I have a full CF one, so I'm biased. I also have about 12 standard -non-flared blanks yet to stanchion and sell. |
