New M Coupe Owner - Merry Christmas
I'm headed to San Diego tomorrow evening to pick up my new (to me) M coupe. The buyer has been fantastic to work with and my wife and I will be spending the next 4 days driving back to Georgia. We are planning on staying in Tucson then somewhere in West Texas and Oxford, MS on the way back. If anyone has any suggestions for the food/accommodations/activities along our general route please let me know. Doesn't seem like much between Las Cruces and Dallas.
This will be my second cross country car buying experience - the first was the purchase of my Defender 90 from Denver. Looking forward to the chance to get to know my new ride but dreading getting it dirty. Pics to follow. Here she is: http://www.bmwcca.org/classifieds/li...-Coupe&id=4694 |

(and not much between San Diego and Tucson!)
Fixed! When we bought my wife's 335is Coupe last year we had considered Performance Center Delivery until we mapped out the route. We were going to go through Atlanta and visit friends, then New Orleans and Austin. But there just wasn't anything between Austin and Tucson. We decided to do Euro Delivery instead! Congrats! After almost a week of rain we've got a break in the weather in San Diego right now, but it's been cold (highs in the low 50's today but gorgeous!). No rain in the forecast through the weekend.

Sweet, enjoy the ride. With a decent radar detector you can make short work of the areas between Tucson and Dallas (not to mention the speed traps along I-20 in Alabama).

The warranty until 2016 also was a huge selling point. |

Congrats and good luck with your new car! It looks like a winner. If you like Mexican food, check out El Charro in Tucson. Safe travels and be sure to post some pics from your trip.

Welcome! Drive safe. Don't get a ticket!!
Nice to drive it in December. We are expected to get 6-8" of snow tonight and mine is tucked away asleep until spring. |

If you've never seen Carlsbad Caverns it's well worth the short detour. There's really no other reason to go to that part of New Mexico. As for Texas. Leave Carlsbad at sunset and drive through at night. The stars at night are big and bright, cause there is nothing else to see here.

Congratulations! Enjoy the drive home!
I would seriously not recommend speeding in Texas without a very good radar detector. There are many cops and they tend to be a little overbearing in small towns. On my trip home from Richmond Virginia, i noticed that there was not one cop to be found until reaching the Texas state line, then all at once, there were many. I would look up the cities you're going to pass through and check into some good BBQ places. Some amazing food out there! |
