oil change question

so...

I've read some stuff on this but I am still sort of un-sure about this.

I have a jack and jack stands.

I can jack up the front by jacking up there rear and get the stand under the front. How far off the ground do you guys normally get the car?

It is high enough for me to shuffle under there on my back but not much else.

Does it help to jack up both side of the front?

For oil, I recommend ramps. Then you can fit the jack under the front (using the center lift point) if you need to go higher. You don't even need to get your body under the car if your arms are long enough. I can get at the drain plug just by reaching under from the side of the car.

I usually jack up both sides just so it is level side to side but there is really no need.

Jack up the front drivers side, place a jack stand underneath, crawl under and undo the oil drain plug. Then lower the car, let it drain, jack it back up, put the oil drain plug back in, and lower the car.

Your non-M Z4 doesn't have a front center jack point. Ramps are probably your best solution. Jack up the front using the front side jack pad and slide the ramp under the front tire. Lower the car onto the ramp and repeat process on the other side.
I use the 8000 Rhino Ramp http://www.rhinoramps.com/product.html

I have an oil pump that siphons from the top of the engine into a container, because I hate jacking up and what not. For $80 and re-usable, it definitely makes life easier.

i am a tard...super easy though I wonder if my vac thing is broken. it took like 10-15 minutes to get all the oil out and the pump handle would raise on its own after pumping.

worked though, so easy.....
